  1. Not a peep. This is a disturbingly silent year for the Winter Meetings...
  2. That's what happens when you have just under 30% of your starts over the last three years come against the Yankees and the Red Sox. Yeah, his ERA was predicted to drop down to 4.65 if he was just playing for the Yankees... as he wouldn't have to face their lineup. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/ I'm not sure if that's premium content or not...
  3. Floyd really doesn't have much in the way of value any longer. If I were Kenny I'd throw in Crede to try and get Hamels. won't work, hamels is untouchable I doubt untouchable is the word. Ryan Sweeney, Crede, Vasquez and Garcia would probably get Hamels and Rowand. That'd be a steal for the sox. Hamels can deal it. I know. I love me some Hamels. Although, Gillick has unexplainable love and hate for certain players. I kinda hope he hates Hamels as he hated Abreu and Burrell... so maybe that's clouding my judgement. It's just as likely he's absolutely in love with him and wouldn't give him up for Cabrera.

  6. Z/Schmidt/Hill/Lilly/Miller-Prior That's a rotation I could be happy with. Now go get a SS and a CF Hendry. I don't like the idea of pitching your left-handed starters back to back. Specially considering Lilly and Hill have a similar style of pitching. Zambrano Schmidt Lilly Miller/Prior Hill That is how I would set the rotation. I'd be fine adjusting to that rotation after a while, but not to start off the season. In April and May when we get to skip the 5th starter on occassion I'd rather give Miller or Prior the time off than keep Hill off the mound.
  7. Darin Erstad would be a great addition to the team! He could replace Darren Baker as the sometimes-batboy.
  8. Put me down! I am down! That could quite possibly be the worst trade I've ever heard (from the Mets standpoint). I know Milledge is good, but I dont see why he is so highly touted. He seems good, but nowhere near great. .828 OPS in the minors this year. 837 last year, pretty good patience, little power. Seems about the same level as Pie and about the same age, yet Milledge is talked about as a superstar and Pie as nothing that special. All that said, I wouldnt think about trading him for Buerhle or Vazquez Milledge has started to lose his appeal lately. Isn't he going to have to move out of CF too?
  9. Ugh 4 / 44 for Lilly. I realize we've got to overpay to get picthing via FA, but $11MM per season for Lilly. Just wow. I don't buy that figure. Newsday is reporting a reporting, but nobody has seen this alleged report to which they refer. I'll need some confirmation from a second source before I trust Newday on this. I would not doubt pandering for one of the New York teams is going on in that quip. I think they're just using the max predictions from everybody. A few sources came in today and said he was asking 11 per. It's been known for a while he's looking for 4 years. If they heard we were close, it'd be natural to assume we're near 4/44. I'm gonna be pissed if it's more than 4/32... and I'll probably be pissed even if it's that.
  10. I tend to agree with baseball7897 in the vein that Jennings is overrated and Marquis underrated (though only if he comes at a significant economic discount). However, I don't believe for a moment that Marquis is a safer bet than Jennings. All things being equal, if we can get Jennings for spare parts, I'd love to have him... if not, I'm not wanting to use things of real value to us for Jennings or more than a trivial amount of money on a minor league deal for Marquis.
  11. To assume GM's are that intelligent is a risky proposition. Have you met Ned Coletti? I haven't but I would be interested in hearing about the times you have met him. Perhaps another time. I'd like you to meet my friend humor first.

  13. Church would be perfect for CF. He's one of the few guys out there on the market I'd actually prefer to Jacque. (Though Soriano should be in CF and we should be looking for a RF... or just a good platoonmate for Jones )
  14. Efficient? It takes him sooo many pitches per plate appearance just to get his thing done. Now Juan Pierre, that guy was efficient! You see the way he grounded out to second on the first pitch? Phenomenal!
  15. Nothing wrong with a good TTO player, just so long as the HR/PA and BB/PA ratios are acceptible... which Dunn's certainly are.
  16. Sorry, my two slot is reserved for Lugo. Dunn bats 5th. Well then where are you putting ARod or Tejada?
  17. God, Dunn would look great batting in the #2 slot. Soriano Dunn DLee ARam Barrett
  18. Sweet... You only had to say his name once. Most of the time you have to repeat it three times while looking into a mirror. You must have a gift.
  19. Yep. At that pace, a Modzilla sighting is not far off. Do not speak that name aloud! I have no desire to face death today.

And if he has a problem with me posting links providing the obvious explanation, allow him to defend himself. Otherwise, mind your own business. Well maybe I would like to hear your explanation. Here's a thought: maybe other posters thought the same thing! Until you know what I'm thinking, STFU, and http://community.allhiphop.com/images/smilies/aktion034.gif Someone with 170 posts needs a timeout. Now. Is this the same kid who snapped in the Brad Radke thread?

  22. Any news on Church being available? I would definitely be more interested in him than Lofton or Lugo for CF. Church has some pop in his bat, and also gets on base at a fairly decent clip. Aside from Jim Bowden's blatant dislike of him, I havent really heard anything.
  23. You may be right, but if the a good opportunity came up to acquire Tejada or ARod, I think you would see Hendry fall out of love with him very quickly. Probably. Maybe Hendry is thinking Lugo in CF until Pie is ready, then deal Izzy? Maybe get lucky and Izzy does semi-decent which turns in to some trade value? I'm trying to think this through on Jim's behalf, but I'm having difficulty with the apparent infatuation with putting Lugo in CF... Izzy is a free agent after this season. There's a team option for 08 on the deal. We could pick up the option and move him somewhere.
