  1. Aramis is having a darn good glove night.
  2. He saw Hendry keep Neifi around, and Neifi did it all the time. Pie probably just figured that was the way to get fast-tracked to the big leagues.
  3. Is that how you teach the leaders of tomorrow to spell Alfonso?
  4. As a major league catcher, you have to stop that. And it's not like it's a rare occurence or anything. That's his 8th passed ball of the year. Keep in mind it's only June 3rd. What?! Marquis missed by 3 feet. You stop a 90 mph pitch where you transition your wrist completely the other way. Barrett hasn't looked good behind the plate this year, but I'd be inclined to agree if you were to suggest that many of his defensive miscues have been at least partially due to the pitching staff. I was just talking about that one play. It's not as easy as some people are suggesting, even for a ML catcher. Yeah, I was agreeing with you. Hell, I had a hard time making adjustments to 50 mph fastballs in little league when I was behind the plate.

  6. Interestingly enough, it took us 17 pitches to go down 123... whereas we only needed 19 pitches for the first inning.
  7. On a similar note, Ryan Braun is a lot smaller than I remember.
  8. That DP might have been humongous.
  9. Uh, yeah, we just get a substitute pic... not the one you're looking at.
  10. ... If you're gonna wish, wish for the three-run homer. Okay. Three run home please. Thanks. Good man.

  12. I am not enjoying the starkly contrasting camerawork.
  13. I'd rather have Murton than all the relievers Jim Hendry can get his grubby little paws on.
  14. We get a talented outfielder. Tampa Bay gets to feel it has done its civic duty. And Mrs. Dukes can sleep safe and sound. Sounds like a win-win-win.
  15. I sure am glad I kept reading after the first post that said Hill was in RF, cause even though I don't like Jacque all that much, I'm not about to trash my apartment in reaction to one of our three RFers playing in right.
  16. So you don't think a team with Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, David Ortiz, Chase Utley, and Adam Dunn all batting in a row would finish in last place? It stands no chance without a leadoff man like Juan Pierre.
  17. Perfect, I can already see him becoming our closer when we send Dempster to the rotation and Marshall to the bullpen. I guess we'll have to cut Gooz to make room for him on the 40 man, though.
  18. the smart thing to do would be to go out and get a C using a Murton (while he still has a high ceiling). Barrett more than likely wont be resigned next year, so we could just go ahead and plug whomever in that hole. I would like Salty, and barrett being from Atlanta would be a good fit there, but dont think Murton and Barrett get that deal done. Think that the Braves would be asking for a lot more b/c Salty has a chance of being something special. If we're asking for Salty, the Braves will want Guzman or someone of his caliber for starters. Being able to have a long term, high quality type player at catcher might be worth it. I'd consider it as well. Salty is an excellent defender and probably will hit. ... in a Cubs uni?
  19. Wasn't there an incident with Murton earlier this year where Zambrano showed him up? I can't recall what exactly happened, but I do vaguely remember something taking place. I can remember one with Murton and one with Walker. I think there have been others as well. Zambrano, as much as I've liked him, is a punk. His bravado is fun and entertaining when he's going well, like his predicting the Cubs will win 110 games or his claiming he'll win the Cy. But when things go bad, he's an immature jackass. Barrett's an emotional player as well. We've seen this with Oswalt and AJ. The difference is Barrett is usually taking on the other team and not his own. That behavior may not be good, but it's world's better than pouting and blaming your own teammates. Zambrano was acting like a baby and Barrett called him on his prima donna attitude. Maybe if Zambrano started throwing the ball better and quit trying to act like Kent Tekulve he'd get more outs this year. Nice Tekulve reference.

Think that the Braves would be asking for a lot more b/c Salty has a chance of being something special. That might've gotten the deal done when Langerhans was batting .056 in LF for the Braves... but now that they've got a workable platoon in left and Lou has sucked all the trade value from Murton and Hendry is probably about to put himself in a situation where he feels he has to unload Barrett, there's no way it gets it done. Hendry, the master of selling low. We'll get an oft-injured high A flamethrower with great stuff and no results for Barrett.
  21. Blanco, with either Koyie Hill or Soto backing him up. Which is hilarious, considering I was against the Blanco signing.
