  1. Can you play 20 questions on a message board? Is it a righty?
  2. My prediction: Barrett to the DL. Gallagher is gonna be our backup catcher.
  3. For some reason, all I can think of at times like this is my high school chemistry class. Mr. Davenport would not let us rest until we balanced the equation, so I'm freaking out right now not knowing what on earth is going on to counter Gallagher coming up.
  4. Who here thinks that? He really improved the team from when he took over. They just kind of stagnated their 3rd year. My dad who is a diehard Tiger fan was telling me 2 years ago how good the Tigers were going to be last year. So yeah I think Leyland did kind of walk into a good situation and Trammell kind of got thrown under the Bus. I also think Trammell deserves more Hall of Fame consideration than he gets Not just consideration. If you look at his numbers, he's a no-doubter.
  5. I don't like Gathright by any means... but I wouldn't say no to acquiring him if we can get him for a nothing piece like Novoa or Eyre. It'd be nice to have him in the system just in case he proves that he can actually keep that OBP in the stratosphere with another year in AAA.
  6. I really think Pie brings a spark to them team..Before yesterday, I beleive they were like 12-9 with him..When he's there, the hitting seems more contagious and the players don't look so bored and out of it. I know I never take a fridge break when he's batting. Electrifying player. As for Soriano... Pie lets Soriano worry less about his defense and more about his hitting. Same can't be said for a Jones CF. Hell, I ripped apart my entire living room when I saw the lineup looking for my cell phone to make sure my friends knew he was in the game. If he does that for me, I can't imagine what he does for the rest of the team.
  7. I'd rather Gooz and Marmol be starting. Nothing quite like selling high on Marquis and Marshall. comparing Marshall to Marquis? that's harsh. Simply in the fact that their perceived value is probably a lot higher now than we're likely to see it for a while to come. I'd rather hold on to Marshall than Marquis, if it came to it.
  8. Jones in May hit .205/.263/.329

  10. I don't care if they get 9 in a row, just so long as they don't blow the lead. Or give me a coronary cause they get so close to blowing the lead. What is the pen's WHIP? I don't have the numbers in front of me, and I don't quite feel like calculating it (since I'd have to look back at retrosheet in order to exclude Gooz's starts)... sorry. Just for fun, though, I did decide to look up the WXRL for all the clubs. Cubs rank 29th... ironically, the only pen in the league that's been worse (in terms of when they decide to screw up just so much as how often they do) is the powerhouse bullpen put together by that baseball genius Wayne Krivsky in Cinci. But that bullpen has been about twice as bad as ours.

  13. Call for the freaking ball... jeez.
  14. I don't even want to know what you guys just secreted/excreted on yourselves.
  15. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Why Theriot when we have Murton and Floyd?
  17. Side note: There's a local pizza place that makes some freaking fantastic chili cheese fries, but they wont deliver those unless you order a pizza. Is it strange that I ordered a pizza I didn't want just to get some amazing chili cheese fries?
  18. barrett derosa izturis turds is probably the right expression for that group... at least the first and third batters Thanks, but I'll continue to judge Barrett on his last three years rather than his last two months.
  19. I don't think anyone is saying he's been bad, but he was directly responsible for the Brewers taking the lead. I can't think of a play outside of Jose Canseco using his head to assist the ball over the fence that directly gave a team runs.
  20. I must have missed the part where one game is the same as the season. i haven't heard anyone agree with you that our defense is no problem. not our biggest problem, but overall, another problem. Rob is right. I agree with Rob as well. Ahhh, sweet sweet validation.

  22. Uhhh... Cubs are 7th in the majors (4th in the NL) in team defensive efficiency. So, in general, if a ball is hit in play, we are very likely to make the play compared to other teams. how many times have we complained about barrets defense? about jacques arm? about jacques defense? about murton's defense in right? there not terrible, but they aren't great by any means. I'll agree with you on that. But our defensive woes are far overstated. People may complain all they like, but that doesn't really turn our team defense into a problem.
