    As well as Lee has been hitting, he probably figured Derrek would put the bat on the ball. I don't particularly care what Lou's rationale is. This team is better off if we never attempt a hit and run all season. Lou really needs to stop calling for a few each game.

    Ricciardi is generally accepted to be the ugly friend of the sexy sabr GM's. Nobody really loves him, but come last call, sometimes your situation is desperate enough that it sounds like a good idea.

    I wonder if this has something to do with why it looked like he couldn't catch up with any of Harang's pitches? That would be more like it. The hand has nothing to do with it. Lou said he was going to spend 2-3 days working with Pie to shorten his swing. The two worked together Wednesday, with Piniella engaging in some pretty animated discussion with Pie. I pray that isn't a diplomatic way of saying Lou was yelling at Pie.

    I get it... the only way to beat Dusty lineup is to run a Dusty lineup out there against it.

    Murton wasn't called up, from what I hear, because Patterson is more fit to be a leadoff man and that is the glaring hole right now. More accurately, that is what the Cubs perceive as a glaring hole. In reality, it couldn't matter much less.

    No doubt it's a big move but it makes sense if Soriano keeps struggling to stay healthy in the OF. Soriano will have $112M and 6 years left on his contract after this season. You absolutely cannot let a player's body break down when you owe him that much money. We could get something pretty good for Lee, so it's not like Lee's production would just disappear if he were traded. DLee's contract runs out after 2010 (his age 34 season). I expect that we let him walk and move Sori to 1B at that point for the remainder of his contract (which runs through 2014).

    1.) The Carlos Lee for Scott Podsednik trade did not help the White Sox. 2.) The White Sox are no more real than the A's or the Orioles right now.

    Aramis Ramirez's PA/BB: 2005 - 14.46 2006 - 13.20 2007 - 12.98 2008 - 8.00 P/PA 2005 - 3.61 2006 - 3.71 2007 - 3.67 2008 - 4.18 Aramis seems to be making a concerted effort to improve his plate discipline. It should pay off eventually. Should we be crediting Perry for that?

    Good news: Soto seems to have passed up DeRosa in the lineup, which should get him a few extra PA this season. Every little bit helps. Judging from the fact that Cedeno is hitting in front of Theriot, Lou seems to realize that Cedeno is a better hittter. Bad news: Murton is in Iowa. That forces DeRosa to play right, which means we have 3 middle infield bats in our lineup (DeRosa, Cedeno, and Theriot). Lou has Theriot at SS instead of Cedeno... which means he still thinks Theriot is a SS, and not a 2B playing SS.
