  1. He's BA's sleeper pick in the Cubs system.
  2. That's one version... There's also: Marlins get: Manny Ramirez, one prospect (from Red Sox), cash (from Red Sox) Red Sox get: Jason Bay, John Grabow Pirates get: Jeremy Hermida, Ryan Tucker, and two prospects (one each from Red Sox and Marlins) And there's been some talk that Jack Wilson may head to the Red Sox with Jed Lowrie going back to the Pirates... If that happens, the Pirates are actually looking like a team that may have some real talent in a few years... C - ? 1B - Steve Pearce 2B - ? SS - Jed Lowrie 3B - Pedro Alvarez LF - Jose Tabata CF - Andrew McCutchen RF - Jeremy Hermida They're gonna have a few holes, and their pitching staff will still need to come around... but that has the makings of a team that could be annoying for a few seasons.
  3. Feelin real good...
  4. They're .5 games back of the Crew.
  5. Villone coming in to face Casey Kotchman in ATL with the bases juiced and two outs... Cards still up by 3.
  6. Demp just ninja'd that ball out into left field.
  7. Carp couldn't have picked a better lineup to attempt to come back against... there isn't a single OPS over .800 in the Braves lineup with Teixeira gone, Chipper on the DL, and McCann injured.
  8. John Perroto is reporting that the deal is on the verge of being completed between the Marlins and the Red Sox.
  9. Why don't we just use the game thread?
  10. Just got out of my last final for the summer session... but it's raining too hard for me to walk down to the bars. So I'm stuck here, watching the game, and getting schwasted. Cubs need to win this one for me.
  11. Poor Kosuke... that should have been a hit.
  12. My predictions anger the baseball gods... so I stopped making them long ago. But I am very happy about the way this series started.
  13. According to the game thread on LEPG, he threw 19 pitches tonight, only three of which were sliders. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=237&position=P He's thrown the slider more than twice as often this year as he did last year.
  14. I'm not ready to cut bait on Howry yet... especially considering the way his fastball peaked in August last year... I'd like to see how he does if they aren't making him throw the slider 25% of the time.
  15. Ascanio blew a 2 run lead in the 9th to a Blake DeWitt HR, but Iowa came back and scored 2 in the top of the 10th, which he held onto to win. Pie is 3 for 6 tonight with a double, a strikeout, and a caught stealing. His BA now sits at .288, despite that horrible start after his demotion.
  16. Rickie Weeks seems to be the whipping boy for this one on the Brewerfan boards... I saw this there, and I had to bring it over. "Can't spell Rickie Weeks without 3 E's and 2 K's"
  17. I'm really excited to see Kyler Burke starting to pull out of his season long funk... a double, a triple, a walk, and a strikeout tonight. He's brought his average up to .231 (it was around .150 a week or two ago) This is his 4th multi-hit game in a row.
  18. That kid was definitely mining for nose gold.
  19. Pie got gunned at 3rd trying to stretch a double into a triple.
