  1. Right now, Aramis is a better defensive 3B than Vitters is. I imagine the picture will look a lot more clear in a couple years.
  2. Felix Pie has a dinger too.
  3. Josh Vitters homered in his first at-bat to start a new hitting streak.
  4. hard to say. i came up with a list of some "gimmes" for the top 25, given who made 26-50 and the honorable mention choices. Frankly, I was pretty shocked that David Price didn't make the top 50 - I had considered him a gimme until I saw that he was on the honorable mention list: Erik Bedard Clay Buchholz Matt Cain Robinson Cano Adam Jones Chipper Jones Cliff Lee Jonathan Papelbon Jhonny Peralta David Price Ben Sheets Troy Tulowitzki Justin Verlander 1. jose reyes, new york mets 2. david wright, new york mets 3. chase utley, phillies 4. ryan howard, phillies 5. hanley ramirez, marlins 6. albert pujols, cards 7. c.c. sabathia, brewers 8. ryan braun, brewers 9. jay bruce, reds 10. clayton kershaw, dodgers 11. tim lincecum, giants 12. brandon webb, d'backs 13. a-rod, yankees 14. josh beckett, red sox 15. evan longoria, d-rays 16. justin morneau, twins 17. joe mauer, twins 18. miguel cabrera, tigers 19. grady sizemore, indians 20. josh hamilton, rangers 21. felix hernandez, seattle other possibilities: corey hart, brewers justin upton, d'backs adrian gonzalez, padres aramis ramirez, cubs carlos quentin, white sox jason bay, red sox a lot of this is off the top of my head, so i might've forgotten a couple of people. Apparently, there was 1 vote for Corey Patterson. They dont say who it was from, but it was an anonymous major league manager. It wasn't up to a vote... it's just an article written by Nate Silver.
  5. Johnston's bat is really coming around this season since they moved him off short. It's still got a ways to go though if he's going to have enough bat to handle an outfield corner.
  6. I can't believe how many people here still like Jon Stewart... He started off funny, but he's just become spiteful and hate-filled.
  7. Vitters popped out to end the 7th. He may not get another chance to extend the hit streak.
  8. When you play 162 games, you're bound to lose at least one game against a worse team.
  9. It bears mentioning that Soriano is walking 6.2% of the time this season. Even he's getting into the patience act the rest of the team is. 2004 - 5.0% 2005 - 4.8% 2006 - 9.2% (lots of "unintentional" walks that season with the Nats) 2007 - 5.0% 2008 - 6.2%
  10. You should know that you're my new favorite person.
  11. Does France include French-Canadians? And French Stewart?
  12. Didn't he start out absolutely on fire too? OPS by month: April - .947 May - .713 June - .684 July - .595 August - .695
  13. These games piss me off... I have WGN, Comcast, and the EI package... but I wont get to watch this game. I guarantee EI blacks it out since I'm in Illinois, even though I can't get WCIU.
  14. Is that good? Yes... just so long as Vitters doesn't have the same injury problems. Remember, Aramis Ramirez has essentially been Howie Kenrick with more pop.
  15. I have no scruples. I steal your research without thinking twice about it, and I impersonate a malevolent AI talking about cake to coerce Goldstein into talking about Vitters. And I have no qualms with any of this.
  16. I had to work a little harder and drop a Portal reference to get that one in.
  17. Isn't Vitters chasing the NWL hit-streak record?
  18. Cameron goes down swinging. 2 outs.
  19. he owed us. From what? Kendall, giving them Blevins (http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=460283) Kendall turned into Flaherty for us.
  20. I'm on the verge of cheering for the Cards to catch the Brewers. The odds of us actually being passed up by both the Brewers and the Cardinals is about 1%. Go ahead and root for them.
  21. It's pretty much unfair if they all are on. Pujols-Bonds-ARod couldn't hit them if they are on let alone Encarnacion-Patterson-Bako Even if Harden doesn't go 7 every time, we don't lose much nastiness-quotient if we slide Samardzija in there for an inning or two.
