  1. It'll look even better on April 5, when there are players on the field and my son turns 21 and buys me a beer at the Cubs-Astros game. _________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan You've got it all wrong. You're supposed to buy HIM the beer. No, I'm already "buying" a college education for him. A beer for me is the least he can do. (And since it's the least he can do, that's what he will do.) _________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan

  3. Nice. Will make a dandy (i.e., cheap) but thoughtful gift for my baseball-loving wife. Just print it on nice paper and put it into plastic sleeves/laminate it to keep near the coffee table, next to the beer and remote. ______________________________________________ Sanberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  4. If the prices go up 20%, I'll have to cut back to two or three games per year. Ugh. _______________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  5. Well, you don't has to call me Ray; you can call me Jay -- oh, wait, someone's using that one already. ______________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  6. So, you think this Loria is a pretty good guy, huh? ____________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  7. Speculation like this reminds me that it's a bad idea to give players -- like DLee and ARam -- no-trade clauses. (Although I suppose they demanded it as part of their contracts.) And, in most cases, once you approach a player about waiving the no-trade clause, their "feelings get hurt" and you have a problem on your hands if you don't consumate the trade. ______________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  8. Hmmmmm... let's see... Jason Marquis is a mighty fine no. 4. Yeah, Dusty will use him well, and, uh, yeah, we can take that old codger Griffey off his hands. Yeah, that's it. ____________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  9. No crown on the infield, huh? Hey, does this mean Dusty will actually be able to see what's happening to his Reds on the field this year? __________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  10. That was an opportunity for Dusty to show leadership and calm the young pitcher down. I think the major blame falls on Dusty for that one failure. ________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazersoki>Morgan
  11. Yeah, unbelievable! Don't the D'backs have any fans? But for the cost of airlines, hotel, etc., I guess I would prefer to pay the scalper and see the game at the most beautiful park in the land -- Wrigley. _____________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  12. Last time we had OD tix was 1998 and my dear wife got us tickets in the last row of the right field upper deck, right in the corner, against the wind. We brought a blanket that we could have sold for over $100, but we kept it and survived 'til the eighth inning. Even though we've got the playoffs ahead of us, I can't wait 'til next year -- I don't expect to get playoff tix, so no more live games for us this year. Thanks for the pictures -- they're great. I like the ivy branches on the outfield walls. I hope we go far enough in the playoffs that we see the ivy turn red again. __________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  13. Good for you, Three Fingers. Bring us a couple W's, willya? _____________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  14. How do you download video clips from your pc? Right-clicking doesn't work for me. Thanks. ______________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  15. I couldn't stand Chip Caray. He talked waaaaaaay too much and waaaaay to quickly. It also seemed as though Stoney started talking too much as well, kind of trying to get a word in edge-wise. Sometimes, a little silence is good -- part of the nature of baseball. Len and Bob are much better than I initially thought. Much as I enjoy Stone on the Score, Brenly makes up for his absence from the booth. I love Ronnie as a Cub, not as an announcer. I get irritated when he asks Pat questions about the players -- doesn't he do ANY research? On the other hand, I like listening to someone who feels the pain -- and the occasionl euphoria -- even more than I do. __________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  16. Waiting to pick up a division champ hat. Reminds me how different this year is. In other years, the big news would be that, at 83 victories, we guaranteed our first winning season in hundreds of thousands of years! Nice that no one even mentioned that. _______________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  17. Are you a graduate of this fine south side institution?
  18. BCVM22: Thank you for posting those audio files. They'll make their way to my mp3 player to warm up cold winter days. __________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  19. Would a World Series win really be good for Cubs Nation? I don't know. Let's win the thing and find out. _______________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  20. I've listened to parts of two Brewers games this year, including the one last week in which they came back from a 4-0 deficit only to lose 7-4. Bob Uecker was absolutely comatose, even in the middle of the comeback from being four runs down in a September penant race. What am I missing? Did I just hear him on a couple bad days or is he really the Ed Farmer of cheeseland? Was Pat Hughes his broadcast partner in Milwaukee or did they work separately? Pat is so much better than this guy. ___________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  21. Just contract the two Florida teams. No one would miss 'em. ________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  22. Had the Cubs not picked him up, chances are the Brewers would have. While that may not strike fear into all of us, he would have been a handy replacement for Parra, the kid whose thumbnail got ripped off on that bunt attempt. So, maybe Trachsel helps us out on the mound and maybe he helps us by not being on Milwaukee's mound. _________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  23. Which is worse: giving up 30 runs in one game -- something not done in over 100 years -- to the worst team in the league or giving up double-digit runs in all games of a four-game series -- something not done in the AL in over 85 years -- to the best team in the league? And the Cubs aren't involved in either one! _________________________________________________________ Golden Glove: Sandberg > Mazeroski > Morgan
  24. Very nice pics -- thanks for sharing. The last photo is kinda odd -- the boats are about to come over the right field wall! Wish I was there. _________________________________________________________ Gold Glove: Sandberg > Mazeroski > Morgan
  25. He apparently complained about pitching in non-save situations. On the Braves website, Andruw Jones made a comment about needing pitchers who want to pitch when they're needed, not when they want.
