  1. I think Santo should sing it every day. This guest conductor crap grew old a long time ago. What he said. _________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  2. That's what the headline at espn.com said. Since it's premium content, I couldn't tell what their concerns were. Does anyone know if what they're saying is of any value? Thanks. _______________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  3. What he said. If Stone is taking pokes at Harrelson, I may have to listen to a Sox game every now and then. _____________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  4. Until I hear something about towel drills, I'm not going to worry. ________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  5. Agreed. We need more names like Sal "The Barber" Maglie and Dick "The Duck" Ellsworth. (FWIW, I guess the software doesn't know that Ellsworth's first name is the familiar for Richard.) _____________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  6. Thanks, R-Train. I called and got the same message -- from a human voice. Good luck!
  7. I also interviewed and rec'd the same instructions. I kinda figure that they'll have a "thanks-but-not-this-year" message at the other end of the phone number. Nevertheless, it was definitely cool to interview in the Cubs locker room -- it really is as small as people say! Plus, I got to use the players' pissoir -- my big thrill for the year. \:D/

  9. Good. Hope sweendog has a good year. __________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  10. MojoJojo, I know there are a lot of Chicago transplants in Denver. Are they mostly Cubs fans and, if so, what would you say is the percentage of Sox to Cubs fans there? Back in the winter of 2005, were there a lot of Sox World Series hats and shirts in view. I know that I bought my brother one, and I know his bro-in-law is also a Sox fan. Just wondering. ____________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  11. ". . . as much as $1.5 million. . ." Wish I was born left-handed. _________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  12. I can only speak for the one time we went to Coors Field, which was about five or six years ago -- the game Sammy hit three homers before being lifted in the sixth or seventh inning. We got three tix on game day and sat way in the top deck, just below the purple row of seats indicating the "mile high" point. In spite of that, the sightlines were great! It's a nice park and, unless the Rox are in the thick of the race, you should be able to get tickets without much problem. It's in a bar-ish area like Clark and Addison, so there are places to go before and after the game and taxis to take you to and from your destinations. And Denver's absolutely beautiful. Sounds like you should have a good time. And congrats! Dan
  13. I happened upon a story about Herb Score in the http://si.com archives. It concerns a trip to the minors during his tenure with the Sox. It's a long article but is so nicely written. It reminds me of the times I spent reading Sports Illustrated as a youngster. I can't put my finger on exactly what made it so, but the journalism was so much better back then. This article gave me a real feel for the kind of guy Score was. Anyway, FWIW. . . http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1072850/1/index.htm ______________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  14. Braun? Yeah. Pujols? Yeah. Ankiel? Yeah. Guillen? Well. . . if that were the only way to win, I guess so. . . maybe. . . yeah. . . ______________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  15. Yeah, great timing, Mad Dog. 999 career walks in the reg season. I think he joins Fergie Jenkins -- the Canadian Ace -- as the only pitchers with over 3,000 Ks and less than 1,000 BBs. My wife gave me a Maddux-autographed ball from the All-Star game when it was played at the new PNC Park in Pittsburgh, but of course, I can't find it. Idiot. . . _________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan

  17. ESPN says it's Macha in Milwaukee. Sorry, Bob, but I'm glad. I like Brenley and Kasper in the booth. _____________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan

  19. He was my second choice behind Girardi, but I can't remember a better Cubs manager since I started watching the team (going back to the college of coaches). Not perfect, but I'm happy with him. __________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  20. Rebuilt Wrigley at Clark and Addison Age 50+
  21. My wife won one of those Cardwell-Hooton-Pappas autographed baseballs last year at Wrigley (that game was against the 'stros). Now the thing is worthless -- guess she'll have to throw the thing out. Oh, well. ______________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  22. Well, I think I'll head over to WhiteSoxInteractive to read what they wrote, including that Z's no-hitter doesn't count, because: 1. Cubs suck. 2. He had too many days off since his last start. 3 The Astros were too distraught to play because of Ike. 4. The Astros had their home field advantage taken away. 5. Z points to the sky too often. 6. Z's no-no was not as good as Buehrle's. 7. The umpire was paid off by MLB 'cause there's a conspiracy for the Cubs to win this year. 8. 20K+ Cub fans drove up to Milwaukee 'cause they just wanna drink beer and don't know anything about baseball. 9. Oh, and Cubs suck. _____________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  23. I'm hoping to clinch the division on Sunday -- got tix to the last regular season game of the year. After that, it's red ivy! ___________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  24. Yeah, about half of 'em against the Cubs. ________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
  25. I don't worry about the road cap. I have an old dirty home cap, but I wear a 2007 NLCentral Champs hat most of the time. Next year, I am planning on wearing a Cubs hat that says 2008 World Champions. Hope my plans work out. . . _________________________________________________________ Sandberg>Mazeroski>Morgan
