  1. Very sad. Sounds like the concern is about an underlying condition, and I wish them the best in getting the problem diagnosed and treated.
  2. I think the Kool-Aid was spiked. It made many of us delirious. I'm a little pissed that I picked them to have the fewest wins (74), and I'm still not going to get any points for it because I'll be off by more than 10. Right. Sad to think that the entire category is a wash due to the Cubs' total suckitude To make it even stinkier, an entry could be within +/- 10 games ... so it's really a twenty-game swing.
  3. The Cubs broadcast just started on the repeat playing on CSN for anyone who wants to watch the glory of the first few innings.
  4. Right. And obviously the Sean Army does not equal anyone involved in ranking players. I'm ok with waiting on the results rather than the predictions.
  5. I'm not sure how much that had to do with player development. Their non-baseball problems were known before they were drafted. It's fine to draft them anyway based on their baseball talent ... but I'm not sure that holding people who are charged with player development responsible for off-field problems is really holding the right people accountable. If you're going to invest in kids with off-field problems, then you should be willing to invest in people who can deal with off-field problems.

  7. Nevin? Maybe Walker?
  8. Z's all good. He been showing up in really good shape at spring training. He seems to pack on some weight as the season progresses. I suppose there's nothing that can be done about that. :| Which seems odd, since he seems very motivated in the off-season.
  9. Just to be sure, I'm hoping for a footrace before the end of the season. I did enjoy this win even if it was for all the wrong wrong reasons. Too funny. (but if Dusty returns, I'll be furious)
  10. Post-game show: "Why not let soto run? Could he have done worse?"
  11. I was wondering why not use Marmol, who probably knows a little bit more about baserunning, but maybe he had to be saved in case it went 18 innings. :?
  12. Brenly: "I don't even know what to say about this, GoofyFoot jogging around 3rdbase, Chris Speier yelling "Please run faster!" and he goes into homeplate standing up, which might actually have been a good move, since it surprised Martin and maybe threw off his timing."
  13. "errors are part of the game" -- Cesar
  14. YAY! Cesar used his bat. That was some really really bad baserunning by Mateo.
  15. Brenly: "you didn't think you'd be rooting for Geovanny Soto to be scoring from 1B on his belly when this game began, but I'd take it!" I'm guessing Soto PH for the pitcher's spot there? I've lost track.
  16. Len: "And he walks! What a night for Matt Murton!" :) I was going to ask what the odds were on Soto bunting, but I'm posting too late.
  17. I'm waiting for a Z pinch-hit appearance.
  18. Brenly bitching about how the Dodgers historically slow down the game with runners on base and how looong it would take Lasorda to walk to the mound back in the day. Earlier, he mentioned how much he used to loathe Lasorda, but how he's supposedly grown to respect him in his post-playing days (but that sounds iffy).
  19. Maybe even some injuries, to boot. :x
  20. what a terrible bunt. Has Pierre quit, too?
