    Actual attendance was significantly lower and the people who have been going to the games aren't buying bleacher tickets.

    Hendry's contract extension was only 2 years (through 2008), correct? I wonder how much his search for a new manager will be affected by his own contract term.

    In an article about the Papelbon brothers, the Idaho Statesman (Boise paper) says it's 7:15 local (MDT) time. Everyone not living in the Mountain Time Zone is always confused by it. :)

    In honor of Marmol's HR, here's a picture of another HR ball he hit in West Tenn, from the Zen Garden at Pringles Park.     Almost as old as watching a terrrible defensive team after hearing from the GM that he wanted guys who could catch the ball.

    Glad to see Moore at 1B. That's about all I'm glad to see.

    Not sure if this has been posted, but the Cubs record for single-game Ks by a Left-Handed Pitcher is 12 by Jamie Moyer in this game in 1987. Moyer pitched 8 innings and walked 6. Further surfing of retrosheet indicates that Holtzman matched that as a Cub a few times; Moyer's must be the most recent performance. I'm going to temporarily lock this thread in order to split and move the free agent starting pitchers discussion to Transactions ...     I hate the cobs. Even though I'm not sure Girardi is best for the Cubs (I'd still take him), and even though he already was basically fired once, if they win the wild card, is there any way they would fire him? They'll keep him on, even if Loria hates his guts.

    Aramis has improved a lot defensively. No, he doesn't have good range and likely won't develop that ... but I give him credit for the improvement he has made, because he did actually have to work (gasp!) at it. He handles what's hit at him or very close to him, which is a vast improvement over his abilities when he arrived here.

    When is Cesar due back? Hopefully he'll ease back into playing. I'd hate to see Theriot completely benched for Cedeno at this point.
