  1. I was hoping that this is when we'd hear the dirt on Jon.
  2. XM Home Plate is running an Update blurb saying that Girardi's agent won't comment on rumors that he interviewed for the job. Nothing beyond that or on the timing of the interview (if there is/was one).
  3. Right now it is. Long term, I've had no confidence that the Trib would be able to reverse course and consistently field a winning team. The reasons for that have evolved over time, but the record speaks for itself. There's no guarantee the next owner will be better, but I'd prefer to take that risk than watch a consistently sub-.500 team, which has been the history under Trib ownership, for the next 25 years. Your mileage may differ. :)
  4. Seeing as the Trib hasn't been able to field a .500 team over the past 25ish years, I'm still willing to take my chances with a change in ownership (which hasn't happened yet).
  5. Yes, Cheers to Southpaw19!!
  6. It was depressing to hear ... but they've been wrong before and/or things can change quickly ...
  7. I listened a bit of Bruce Levine on the Talkin Baseball show yesterday and George Offerman on whatever Score show is on Sundays mid-morning. Both thought that Hendry's hands were more or less tied when it came to making any trades because of the pending sale. Apparently there are now multiple levels of approval needed and any trade can be easily vetoed. Both also opined that Z is likely going nowhere, then walking at the end of the season.
  8. Len and Pat both enjoy the journey as well as the destination.
  9. Welcome to the forums! As Omar said, gates open about 2 hours before gametime. It's hard to say about the bleacher ticket, because it depends a lot on your comfort level in terms of having a guaranteed ticket before arriving as well as buying around Wrigley. There are several ticket brokers surrounding Wrigley that you can check out. If you go to Murphy's, you'll probably hear a few people offering to sell tickets. It's up to your risk tolerance level! If you decide to buy the day of the game, you're going to need to make a beeline to the park from your hotel, since you'll probably want to get in fairly early to get a good seat. There are no walking beer vendors in the bleachers. There are several beer stands in the area behind the bleachers as well as on the first floor level. Bathroom access was expanded and improved greatly when they upgraded the bleachers. Either way, though, expect to walk up and down stairs (to and from your seat, if nothing else) every time you want a beer or a bathroom break.
  10. Someone posted links to Pat & Ron's call, Len's call & Bob Uecker's call over at Bleed Cubbie Blue.
  11. We don't keep track of that stat anymore since we traded Barrett. well done!
  12. The new guy's HRs don't start posting until the day after you pick him up. Example: You drop Tejada + pick up NotTejada on Tuesday, 3 pm. You get Tejada's HRs through Tuesday and NotTejada's HRs starting Wednesday.
  13. A split-squad Cubs team faced Gallardo in Spring Training on March 19; it was the same spring training game that Gallagher started. It wasn't a good spring training outing for Gallardo. Game Thread Sportsline box score, recap
  14. AZ Phil has posted an excellent and thorough recap of what transpired during the Mesa game at the Cub Reporter.
  15. Welcome to the forums! You can follow Colvin's progress in the Minor Leagues Forum.
  16. By all means, the Cubs should rearrange the rotation around the possibility of Z going to the All-Star game. Feeding Z's ego really should be their top priority right now. Especially since it's not like he's destined to go to the AS game and get walloped on his pitching elbow with a fungo bat.
  17. Nice to see The Don dominating.
  18. Mistakes can happen and there's no need to accuse Raisin of lying. It's not like Score reports are usually crystal clear in meaning. I've heard them report transactions during an update, then not mention them again for 2 hours.
  19. You've been added to the list on page 1. Welcome aboard!
