    I'll take a wild guess here and say that Cuban has a pretty good idea of how Reinsdorf feels about him and what his chances are going forward. Maybe this is just his way of tweaking MLB's nose and send Reinsdorf's blood pressure skyrocketing ... but there's also a good chance he's serious. If he thinks it's worth pursuing, I'm going to assume he knows what he's doing.

    I'll talk about the baseball-related issues I want to talk about ... but thanks so much for your input. I think it's hilarious when someone says it doesn't matter that Pujols didn't appear because it was an exhibition game. An exhibition to showcase the most popular / best players.

    Just another reminder to PM me your HR Derby wildcard pick (if you want to change wildcards) any time before Friday midnight. You also get two new transactions that you can use any time between now and the end of the season. You can just post them in the Discussion & Updates thread in the Events Forum. I will try to get up the new list of wildcards by Sunday noon. I'm going to be out of town this weekend, but I should have access to a computer. Please realize that Southpaw19 won't be able to post any current updates once the games start back up until I post the new wildcard list and he then has a chance to incorporate the changes. Thanks!

    Did they show Pujols in the dugout in the 9th?

    Again -- then he forfeits if he feels that strongly about it. you don't lose with your so-called best hitter sitting on the bench in the bottom of the 9th with two outs and the bases loaded. indefensible.

    If the game is tied after 9 and larussa is really that scared of players out of position, he throws up his arms and the team doesn't take the field. It's a forfeit or a repeat of the tie game. But the home team does not play for the tie, they plan for the win.

    They're not his players though, he has to feel some obligation to not put them in a situation that's out of their element, could hurt them if they are playing out of position, etc. I think we probably agree on the fact that HF advantage resting on this is a farce. Still ... I'm not asking for a hard slide at the plate. Lope on in. But when a hit wins the game, you send up your so-called best hitter. That's not a managerial move, that's a political statement.

    I realize it's an exhibition game, but you still play to win there. Tell him to swing, a hit scores two or there's a play at the plate.

    It was the bottom of the ninth with two outs. You play to win, not to tie.

    amazing does larussa not think pujols is the best hitter in that situation? did he selfishly hold him back because he's hurt or something? weird

    they seem to dim them for awhile afterwards, then tune them up just in time to catch it again.

    I think Lou would use Pujols here in a similar situation.

    I believe he did. He's a strong sapling. They mentioned earlier how Chase Utley transformed 2B into a power position.
