  1. For some reason I was thinking tomorrow was the 1st! Corrected.

  3. Sorry! I thought Fred had time out and disappeared, so I asked SPM ... mea culpa! GO CUBS/COBS!!
  4. and his outlaw curve
  5. Lou might run out of OFers.
  6. Maybe, minus the genius part.
  7. No one is bickering here so I assume you are talking about a different thread but why does it matter what thread people post in as long as it correlates to the thread title? Also isn't bickering and arguing the point to message boards? I have no idea what's going on so I'm pretty much just asking what is up because I'm lost as to why you posted this. Because the thread became a continuation of the arguments that were going on in other threads across the board about friends and foes. Which is fine -- argue away in Rants in Social -- but not in every thread. A lot of the filler posts were split off this thread.
  8. If you want to talk Babe Ruth, this is the thread. If the bickering goes on, people will get banned and suspended. And people will write outraged emails about it, but they'll still be banned or suspended. Your choice. Easy enough!
  9. Cool it with the sniping over which sniveler is sniveling more, because no one is interested in who wins that snivelfest.
  10. Errors have played a role in the relatively few games they've lost to date.
  11. Tough turnaround time for the Cubs. I hope Reed Johnson is ready to go today -- Lou seemed a litte hesitant on that during the pregame show last night. I'm on a plane this afternoon and hoping to hear about a GLORIOUS VICTORY when I land. Go Cubs!
  12. I kind of figured that would be the case when they announced he would miss at least one start.
  13. In the pre-game show tonight, Lou said Reed Johnson wouldn't be available tonight and went on to say that Reed said he'd be available tomorrow, but ... Lou seemed to question that assertion.
  14. He bought his at the ticket office at Wrigley. They'll sometimes have tickets available despite the game tickets showing up as unavailable online.
  15. If you had seen Z crying, I'd concede the season on the spot.

  17. Kevin Hart suffered a concussion.
  18. Well it definitely wasn't a cramp. Z seemed like he wanted to pitch through it....but then again Prior probably pitched with a small tear in his shoulder for probably quite awhile. Ah, okay. I was just worried this might have involved Z falling to the ground in pain. Granted, it could still be serious, but at least there's reason for hope. Is there any word at all on how serious it might be? No, and I doubt there will be any word until tomorrow.
  19. Lou said on the pregame show that Reed had a stiff back, but should be good to go by Friday.
  20. Ugh. Kevin Hart left the Iowa game in the third inning with a head injury. Typed up the following before seeing the injury type noted in the recap. ------------------------- Seems to be some odd inury delays in the Iowa game. In the first inning, there was an injury delay after a 'soft fly ball' double to Pie. Pie's still in the game (no indication whether the injury delay was related to him). In the second inning, there was an injury delay after a 'groundball single to shortstop Luis Figueroa, deflected by pitcher Kevin Hart.' Hart stayed in the game. In the third inning, there was an injury delay after a 'sharp line drive double to second baseman Eric Patterson, deflected by pitcher Kevin Hart.' That sounds nasty, even in the recap.
  21. It would seem the only logical conclusion.
  22. Ha, yes, perhaps it's an intricate & ingenious plan to lower Roy's cost! A couple of years ago, while Maddux was still a Cub, he pitched in a Florida game vs the Marlins and coughed up a bunch of runs after a borderline play at SS (Cedeno) that was ruled a hit. After the game, the Cubs protested and asked that the hit be scored an error on Cedeno, to which the league acceded. It took several earned runs off Maddux's record. Maybe this is payback for Ronny!
