  1. If there's been word about the exact suspensions, it would be news to WGN radio. They were speculating about what the suspensions might be this morning before a news break.
  2. That's pretty much my take. It was dumb. Barrett needs to figure out how to channel his frustration better ... but we've known that about him for awhile now. He'll be punished. It's hard for me to work up much outrage or disgust about it. Maybe that's because my expectations for this team are so low now.
  3. I'm not very optimistic about Prior's rehab. At this point, I really hope they're considering his long-term outlook in terms of recovering from whatever is ailing him -- whether it's the muscle strain/tear or something more.
  4. The game will be on CSN+ which is also CLTV on many local Chicago cable packages (it should be Channel 31 for you, Roast!). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/seanmarshall.jpg Sean Marshall 3-1, 4.26 ERA vs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/nolasco.jpg Ricky Nolasco 2-1, 3.43 ERA If they scored 7 runs two games in a row, it would be like Christmas in May.

  9. Barrett has had attitude at home plate for a long time. When guys have scored sliding in, then started to get back up, he's pushed them back down several times. This is nothing new. Barrett has attitude. You either like him for it or you hate him for it or you form an opinion despite it all. I don't mind it. I just wish the team was a better team.
  10. Tejada Tejada Tejada Tejada
  11. I've grown to hate the front office. This team I don't hate at all. I kinda pity them, if anything. Maddux and Marshall and Z I like. I still like Barrett, even given his propensity to throw a punch. Walker I like and I root for Ronny but always suspected he might not hit .330 this year. Aramis is a disappointment. Derrek Lee is hurt. Murton is decent, but you can't expect .300/30 out of basically a first-full-year player. I don't dislike this team, but I'm not enthusiastic about it. I don't bother to try to tune in the games when I'm traveling for work anymore. I just check the box score later, already figuring in the loss. I don't dislike the players because they lose. I dislike the front office because they lose.
  12. Aramis isn't kicking much hiney either.
  13. His vision problems have been mentioned for a while, since spring training. I really hope it's something that can be dealt with ... it has to be diagnosed first. That should be the first priority.
  14. Indeed. And back in '03 when Torii Hunter bowled over the Sox backup catcher (was it Josh Paul then?), White Sox fans would have loved it if he had stood up and punched Hunter silly aftewards.
  15. My first impression is that he could manage strategically very well. My second impression is that having to deal with the personality aspects of managing would be a hassle for him, and one that he wouldn't have the desire to take on too soon. Not too many pitchers have transformed themselves into successful managers. He could, but I don't know if he'd want to make that commitment anytime in the foreseeable future.
  16. I really doubt Maddux would want to be a pitcher-manager, which would be the first obstacle.

Did he ever scorch that GW hit. It's a line drive in the box score, baby!

Ah, but did your 97-year-old grandmother win the Caribbean Series?
  19. No wonder they held that extra spot open on the 40-man.
  20. The photographic evidence suggests that AJP is a bigger guy than Barrett. :D
  21. Gallagher done after 87 pitches, 7 innings, 2R, 1ER. Phelps in to pitch. Daytona leads 6-2.
  22. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/407296.jpg BIG Z vs. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/425747.jpg Contreras I'm just starting tomorrow's game thread because the schedule was way behind so I don't think Kat knows she's up to start game threads. Scoring a run tomorrow would be nice, albeit unlikely.
