  1. The NE game is right after the trade deadline. They may have traded a few of their play makers by the time the Bears face them.
  2. I feel like most of the preseason predictions I was looking at had the Vikings being not only last place in the division, but possibly among the worst teams in the entire league. How wrong they were.
  3. I can't blame him for only 2 TD's. Two of their TD's were short yardage. He had Rome wide open and didn't throw it on another, and if he hits Kmet on the other side of his body, that one might have been a TD. But, I also feel like they stopped going for the throat about the middle of the 3rd quarter. You could tell they still wanted to run plays and they did keep passing, but they seemed more like TOP pass plays. Control the rock and run out the clock type plays. If Carolina was keeping up on the scoreboard, I think Caleb could have cleared 400 yards easily in that game. Carolina had no answers for him. He was hitting everyone.
  4. What else do you call a QB on his 4th team in 7 years? He signed on with Tampa for $4m. He was hardly even wanted. Sure, he's had better success, but I'm not sure how you can call him anything other than a reclamation project. Cleveland has quite possibly a worse QB history than the Bears. Although, I would have taken Brian Sipe over any Bears QB not named Caleb Williams. Overall, I would agree that he shouldn't be called a reclamation project. Cleveland never should have given up on him when they did. They should have built a better offense around him.
  5. It's pretty entertaining right now watching Geno Smith and Sam Darnold, along with Baker Mayfield , doing so well on their new teams. Cleveland and Carolina gave up on Mayfield. Carolina gave up on Mayfield and Darnold. The Jets gave up on Geno and Darnold.
  6. It's definitely fine to keep tabs, but I don't see why every thread needs an "I told you so" moment to a bunch of people who pretty much agree with the poster in the first place.
  7. Aren't the partially lowering their head close to impact more of a fumble preventative measure, since lowering your head lowers the rest of your body some and reduces the chances of impact on the football.
  8. I was kinda hoping to see Saleh push Rodgers away at some point after last week's performance. Nice job blaming the coach for the failure that is that team.
  9. I've been reading that a lot of people aren't getting the signal, even after reprogramming/scanning their tv's for the new channels. I've read some get sound, but no video. I've read others saying that the games are very pixelated, grainy and freezes. I'm not trying to discourage you from getting an antenna, but you might want to spend a bit more for one of the better ones. Do your research.
  10. Good to know. Question..... Does ESPN+ let you start a game at the beginning that's in progress? I've got a damn HOA meeting to attend tonight at 7pm, which is game time. Would like to watch it from the beginning after my meeting.
  11. Regardless of whether people invest in an antenna, there will still be millions who got NBC Sports Chicago that won't get the game because they are outside the viewing area of OTA, and within the blackout restricted area. I've seen that they have the OTA option, DirecTV (which I just left), maybe Dish if DirecTV converts them to DirecTV programming, and ATT U-verse. I'm not an expert at this stuff, but I would have to imagine Season Ticket holders will be taking it on the chin for re-sale on their tickets. Us out of towners who like to buy tickets above market value to make it a weekend getaway to Chicago or just plain getaway that will no longer be able to watch games and stay in touch with the Hawks/Bulls will dwindle. Being able to watch them at home keeps us interested, even if the team sucks. Not being able to see them at all makes us think about other things to do with our entertainment dollar. Maybe the Season Ticket holders just sell more tickets to offset the losses, but it's pretty crazy that they didn't even entertain being ready for this coming season with some sort of streaming app. I'd pay right now for NBA and NHL Season Pass if I wasn't in the blackout area. I'd pay right now for CHSN streaming app. Instead, I have to hope that the Hawks will be on ESPN+ often. As far as the Bulls go, I'm poop outta luck. For this year, it won't matter because they are really gonna suck. But, it's 2024, what are we doing here?
  12. I don't really understand the constant harping on the punter draft pick. Are we really going to be subjected to weekly complaints about him being elite/non elite? No one on this message board drafted him, and likely no one on this message board would have taken a punter with the 4th rounder. With that said, Caleb and Rome are making this a historic draft. If Booker can turn into what some people are calling the next Maxx Crosby, even better. If Amagadjie becomes a starting tackle in this league, or even a respectable swing tackle, this draft is even better. Let's get Jenkins, Bates, Borom and whoever else is missing time due to injuries on the OLine healthy for the hard work that will need to be done after the bye week, and stop focusing on whether the punter is top or bottom half of the league. There is way better stuff to talk about.
  13. So happy that my predictions came true, even if they were pretty easy predictions. A) was the Bears put up 30+ and B) Caleb has his coming out party. C) was that the Panthers might burn the defense for a play, but that they should probably control the game also came true, although it ended up being Chuba rather than one of Mingo or Leggette. I was livid with that first Bears series. The Bears have to be easily the worst team in the league on the first series of downs. Has their been a game where they didn't go 3 and out on the first series? Reading through this thread, I saw everyone else posting the same level of anger, so I'm glad it isn't just me. Everything was roses in that game. But, it was obviously a team with a lot of issues. What I'm hoping is that confidence is built for both Caleb and the OLine and possibly a little more respect from opposing defenses. That graphic earlier in this thread that showed Caleb was 6-6 on pass plays featuring a blitz is great news. The Bears offense appeared to be coasting from about halfway through the 3rd quarter. They still passed it more than I thought they would, but if this game was closer I think Caleb would have been closer to 400 yards passing. I'm glad they continued running him out there to get his reps in.
  14. I get being a bit scared of Dalton since Stafford did so well against this defense. But, Eberflus has the same similar bend but don't break defensive scheme we've been used to seeing with this team forever. Let them have the stuff in between if we can't get a turnover, but don't let them into the endzone. I don't feel like any of the Panthers receivers are end zone threats. I might worry about Mingo or Leggette getting behind Stevenson for a deep one at some point, but in general, I don't find any of these receivers to be much of a threat in general. This team has been good at containing opposing offenses in point totals, and I don't see that changing this week. In fact, I'd actually expect that Carolina is playing catch up for the entirety of this game based on Kyle's (err, NotKyle's) description of their defense. Rome has been extremely open, and it's time to let the dogs eat. This is the perfect game to start getting Caleb that high level of confidence in his guys and his arm. With my man cave set up with 6 tv's in front of my fireplace and another one behind the bar, I have yet to have a Carolina game on anywhere other than behind the bar, which I only peak at when the Bears are on commercial and nothing exciting is happening in any of the other games, I'm just not all that familiar with the Panthers. I'd like to see 30+ from this Bears offense this week. Might be asking a bit too much, but one can hope.
  15. Looking over the Bulls roster is pretty cringe-worthy. They are basically looking at starting Coby, Zach, Williams and Vuc, with some combination of Giddey and Lonzo Ball at the point. They have Jalen Smith listed as the back up C and Torrey Craig as the backup PF. Yikes. It's a worse roster than last year and they didn't make the playoffs. Absolutely no one to grab rebounds. That's not good for a pretty poor shooting team.
  16. This upcoming draft is going to have to focus a ton on the Oline. I'm scared of taking another Davis type of retread. If the team isn't retaining you, there is probably a reason. Build from the draft. Has Amigadje gotten any action yet this year?
  17. Maybe this OLine can have a full week of practice at the positions they will actually be playing and find a little cohesiveness to protect the QB a little better. Caleb missed some opportunities, overthrew on a few others and the line gave him no chance on several more. It seems like they are getting close. I like how Jersey pointed out they had a good series one game, a good quarter in another and a decent half in another. It's kinda accurate. These next few weeks seem like a time to get the timing down, lock down the assignments and run some more deep plays. Not every series needs to be 10-12 plays for TD's. Rome looks like he's ready to run wild on opposing defenses. He appears to be Justin Jefferson open A LOT.
  18. Montgomery was offered a similar contract by the Bears, but Montgomery saw greener pastures and chose to explore them. I think he ended up with more guaranteed money from Detroit than the Bears offered, but let's not pretend the Bears weren't interested in retaining him. And that's ignoring he moved to a much better situation. Detroit is on pace to have 2 1000 yard rushers this year. Their line is far superior to what the Bears are putting out there week to week.
  19. In watching the entire clip, he clearly had issues with Moore throughout. Granted, he was pretty accurate on some of his criticisms. The routes were not fooling the defense on some plays and he wasn't blocking on others. With that said, he probably is frustrated in not having many opportunities for longer routes because of the lack of Oline protection. There is still plenty of time to get everyone on the same page and turn this offense into a playoff caliber unit. Well, maybe not the Oline, but they could still make it happen in spite of the Oline. Braxton Jones looked really bad on several of the plays JT analyzed.
  20. I had a 12-5 prediction to start the year with losses to Houston, San Fran, splits with Detroit and Green Bay, then a loss to one of LAR, Indy or Jacksonville. Minnesota looks way better than anyone thought. After seeing the first 4 weeks, I'd probably be more hopeful for 10 wins at this point. They need to get something solid on the OLine going and for the receivers to become an impact in the passing game. I feel like Waldron still has the training wheels on his QB and is holding him back. Maybe it's because the OLine looks so damn bad and they just don't want to expose Williams to more hits waiting for the longer plays to develop, but until they stop defenses from sending extra guys, it's not going to change. They have to burn someone one or two times so that Williams can be respected.

    Boxing/MMA

Was a huge fan at one point. Don't care one bit anymore. You knew all of the boxers, and you watched them develop/grow into top ranked boxers, usually via HBO prefights or Showtime Next Generation as they helped you keep up on the new faces. Then PPV became a thing and I still followed along, even purchasing a few PPV fights or finding places that were showing them, legally or not legally. My favorite era was the Arturo Gatti/Micky Ward years. There were so many fun boxers then, and the fights were great. And I was around for the Ali, Foreman, Frazier years. I got to see most of Sugar Ray Leonard's career on tv. Judges and PPV kind of ruined it for me. Probably most of the country. I'm sure boxing still rakes in more money via PPV than it would airing fights on HBO or some other streaming channel, but I have zero interest in ever following it again. Or it would take a lot of effort on their part for me to enjoy it again. I wish the best of luck to your friend. I've never even heard of Ryan or Mayer, which is a perfect example of how out of touch I am with the entire industry now. Is Michael Buffer still doing his thing before fights?
  22. It's like this ritual where the Bears fans must be punished. I know we got a lot of nice things, mostly with the Caleb trade. But did we have to endure the worst offense in the league after three games? Did the OLine and OC have to perform at levels not good enough for the NFL? Did a former Bear QB (Red Rocket) have to walk into a job on week 3 and make the worst team in the league (and giver of our 2nd round pick in 2025) look like a playoff team? Granted, it was the Raiders they punched in the nads. Did Malik Willis have to be some kind of wonderful? Did Sam Darnold have to be so good that it makes their JJ McCarthy pick look uber stupid? Did Brisker have to run his mouth about daring the Colts to throw deep on them, thus allowing the inevitable deep pass td to Pittman because karma? Did Justin Fields have to go into Pittsburgh as the back up QB, but then is now 3-0 as what was supposed to be fill in starter while the Bears are 1-3? Did the oft-injured but talented WR Keenan Allen have to be more injured than talented to start the season? Do we have to have a chance to win on the last position in the two games we lost, and fail to make it happen? With that said, I really hope we can win this one. I'm not feeling good about it AT ALL, however.
  23. Bengals D actually stopped the run, pretty good. Daniels got a lot of his 39 yards via unopen receivers and taking off running. He still only managed 3.3 YPC. Their bell cow, Brian Robinson had 33 on 16 carries for a 2.1 YPC. Ekeler is mostly a receiver, and Washington did a good job in letting him run a few times, and I think that surprised the Cincy defense, as Ekeler ended up with 3 carries for 35 yards. Daniels was throwing dimes all night. He caught McLaurin behind his defender twice for TD's and actually had a 3rd that was a touch too close to the sideline, or it could have been 3. With that said, it's almost as if Cincy was playing a similar defense to Indy this week by forcing the QB to throw, and the Bears did everything but put points on the board, and Washington did exactly that. Someone is going to break Daniels ankle or twist his knee badly enough to cause him to miss considerable time. He runs too much and he's just tiny from the waste down. 6'4" and 210 and a runner is not good for this league. But, he did have a great game against Cincy. Outside of McLaurin, I'm not impressed with his receiver crew, and I'm shocked they traded Dotson before the season started. But that didn't stop Daniels.
  24. It's all the little things that cause this team to lose games. At least 3 games were lost last year with this nonsense, and the little things are costing them again this year. I had a lot of hope to start the season, but right now, GB, Minn and Det all look better than the Bears. Lots of work to do to turn that around.
  25. That's what I think, too. Their defense should not be able to stop DJ, Rome and Cole. Sprinkle in the other guys lining up when the Colts bring pressure. I know it can't be easy recognizing blitz coverage or executing quick plays with pressure coming, but that's what they should have been studying and practicing all week. Burn them quick, and then settle down with the running game after they back off with the pressure.
