    Exactly..Also the Jason Kidd trade..These trades happen out of nowhere and get done right away..Why do we have to wait so freakin long and hear rumors for like 4 months None of these other teams have fans that are made to suffer like Cub fans. :bye:

    Something has to be happening. I think the Cubs have too many pieces they value but nowhere to put them. Murton, Marshall, Cedeno, Patterson and a handful of other guys who could net value in trade. I'd be on board with getting Roberts and Burnett or Harden, although Harden seems like a stretch considering Oakland really has no reason to move him at this point.

    Has Ward ever been in good shape? I have to admit, I have been eyeballing Ward as a possible recruit to line up on the left side of the Bears offensive line. :wink:

    What are we learning from all of this? #1. It becomes harder and harder to lie in the age of information and technology. #2. Lying gets you nowhere but into an even deeper hole.

    I don't think anyone can clearly say exactly what the Cubs have in Cedeno. Sure, he got plenty of at bats in 2006, but he had just turned 23 years of age. During his age 24 season, he got limited major league at bats and absolutely tore up AAA. Now that he's basically fully developed, it's worth the risk to give Cedeno the job and see if he can outproduce Theriot. Personally, I think he can. He has more power and is a better defender and I think he can hit for better average, which should help him match Theriot overall in OBP. The Cubs have a perfect spot for him to bat, which is 8th. This would also prevent Lou from playing Theriot and batting him 2nd. DeRosa is currently the best option (excluding Fukudome) to bat 2nd.

    What's even funnier is that even after cutting loose Bonds and Klesko, they will probably still be the oldest team playing by a pretty wide margin.

    To be fair, the '07 version of the OLine didn't give Grossman much time to wait for Berrian to run a deep pattern. The '06 OLine did give the QB just enough time to complete those same routes enough times to make a significant difference in point accumulation.

    I'm not all that sold on Berrian. Opposing teams have figured out not to let him get behind the defense, which has turned him into a speedy, but mediocre receiver at best.

    The absolute most important improvements the Bears can make this offseason is the O-Line. Grossman does alright when he has protection. He's not so good when he's hearing imaginary footsteps because he can't trust his line to hold off the rush that he's not so good. I'm a bit concerned about the receiver corps and the running game as well, but there should be plenty of options to improve there as well either through FA or the later rounds of the draft.

    You're looking too hard for a reason, Jake. It's quite obvious that Pittsburgh loves their underhanded relief specialists and have been missing the days of Kent Tekulve and Enrique Romo.

    Here's my prediction: 1. Fukudome 2. LaRoche 3. Rasmus 4. Maybin 5. Soto 6. Headley (hurt #'s by playing in Petco) 7. Brian Wilson (I think he's a rookie in '08) 8. Towles 9. Bailey 10. Scherzer I'll change the list if Wilson isn't rookie eligible. Bruce will be rookie eligible in '09 thanks to Baker. :D

    Baltimore has their own 40 man roster juggling act to do. They also have other players they would love to part with, including Ramon Hernandez, Melvin Mora, Jay Gibbons and Jay Payton.

    I've always believed that diving (not sliding) to the bag is faster than sprinting to the bag. But, the dive would have to be performed perfectly, which is a difficult task in and of itself, and ignores the injury concerns with performing it the exact way it would have to be done. Mark Loretta missed a significant portion of a recent season because he dove to first and broke a finger. Don't remember whether he was safe or not. :D I think the other problem that arises with this debate is the fact that you have to make a decision during your sprint on whether to dive or slide. What prompted the decision? Did you look over at the SS and see he was about to throw? If so, you have probably slowed down the sprint process by looking at the SS rather than focusing on getting down the line as quickly as possible. That slight moment of non-focus could have been the difference between being safe at first by just sprinting. If I'm the manager, I'd rather you be out by a hundredth of a second sprinting to the bag rather than spend 2 or more weeks on the DL. Because the difference of being out or safe at first base is not worth the difference between the starting player and the bench player that will play in your place for several weeks.

    You're probably right, but considering how good the Cubs defense could be this year with potential gold glovers in Pie, Fukudome, Ramirez and Lee, I think the hit the Cubs take defensively at SS between Theriot and DeRosa would be worth it offensively. Theriot isn't exactly a stellar defender. His range is average and his arm is well below average. Theriot probaby has more range and a better glove, but DeRosa has a better arm. Basically, the trade off I see is Theriot getting to balls that DeRosa wouldn't get to, but DeRosa would throw guys out that Theriot wouldn't be able to throw out, including relay throws from the outfield. Of course, the only reason to even consider DeRosa at SS is if they got a better 2b than DeRosa.
