  1. I wouldn't bring him back. If you think his bat swing has slowed significantly this year, just wait until next year after wearing that heavy World Series Championship ring all offseason. :D
  2. I think the bigger story is who will win their respective divisions.
  3. I agree with Adam. If he doesn't get promoted during September call ups, I would think you would be able to keep him in your minors.
  4. The close race I'm currently watching is the point totals between Brandon Webb, Roy Oswalt, Matt Holliday and Vernon Wells. I would love to be able to keep all 4 of those guys for next year. They currently have 1626 points. My guess is one of them will have to be cut loose, which will be Vernon Wells. I have a lot of talented exemption players who will be available at the end of the season since I can't keep them all.
  5. USA has the makings of an incredibly talented olympic gynmastics team in 2012. Not only would Liuken and Johnson make for a solid top end, there was another 16 year old girl (can't think of her name at the moment) that competed this year as well.
  6. Yeah, if the team that has the player says, "okay, you can have him," then the team that makes the claim gets the player, and his salary. D'oh I forgot about that. I can't remember what it was, but that backfired for some team (it was probably the Mets) and they got stuck with a bad contract. The Padres did that several years ago with Randy Myers to block the Dodgers from getting him. That ended up being a horrific decision by the Padres.

    Golf

I love scrambles. In fact, my very first experience with golf was a scramble. The only part I don't like is the shotgun start. I like to play holes 1-18 in that order, not really sure why. We played a scramble last week and had a blast. There was a dogleg right around a lake on one hole. The first guy put a beauty in the fairway, so it was bombs away for the rest of us. I made it over the lake and we had a 15 foot chip for eagle. Unfortunately, we had to settle for a bird. Then I put another par 4 drive right on the green. We had a 30 foot putt for eagle. Unfortunately, we had to settle for a bird. I need guys with a better short game with me next time. [-(
  8. I believe they have 48 hours to work out a deal.
  9. The problem is that there is judging at all. Well, yeah.
  10. Okay, so I have 7 SP and I have 7 starts next week (assuming that Shields doesn't get bumped up a day with the day off). I set my line up to have all 7 starters in the starting line up so that I don't have to rotate them in and out for while I'm gone. Is this okay and will it work?
  11. My problem with the judging of gymnastics is that all things are apparently not equal. The highest score we saw on the uneven bars was 16.90 by Liuken. I don't recall the exact score that Shawn Johnson got on the balance beam, but I think it was something like 15.90. Her performance on the balance beam was, to me, far and away the best performance by ANYONE in any of the events. It had the most difficulty, and she executed her routine perfectly. And so her score is not even in the same ballpark with the uneven bars. In fact, Johnson got a better score herself on the uneven bars. The judges screwed the USA for both Luiken and Johnson on the beam, and if you fix those scores, Sacramone's two biffs meant the difference between a gold and a silver.
  12. I know exactly who you are referring to. He's why I'm not in that league anymore. I was never bashful in calling that dude an idiot.
  13. Better yet, Peavy will be the first 20 game loser with an ERA under 2.75.
  14. It was hopeless, anyway. ;) Isn't that what those swimming boys from France said to the boys in Red, White and Blue before they got their ass handed to them on a silver platter? ETA: Combing the internet, searching, searching, searching...... Oh yes. Here it is. I found it..... Week 6: Northside Baseball 202.5000 at Fuzzy Logistics 306.5000
  15. Bummer. My big match up with NSBB is next week, and I won't be around for it. I leave on vacation this Friday and will miss the rest of this week and all of next week. Hopefully all my boys stay healthy, because I'll be presetting my line ups since I'm not taking any computers with me.
  16. Personally, I'd take just about any improvement over Daryle Ward at this point. Here are a few amazing facts: Carlos Zambrano's SLG is more than 200 points higher than Wards. Carlos Zambrano has more XBH's and more HR's in less at bats than Ward. Carlos Zambrano has more RBI than Daryle Ward. Carlos Zambrano has scored almost twice as many runs as Daryle Ward. Eric Patterson scored more runs in his brief stint with the Cubs than Ward. Any combination of two of Ted Lilly, Jason Marquis or Ryan Dempster has more hits than Daryle Ward. Dempster, Lilly and Marquis have the same number of RBI as Daryle Ward. Dempster and Marquis have crossed home plate as often or more often than Ward. Rich Harden is only 3 runs scored from tying Daryle Ward. At a certain point, one just has to let go of the past.
  17. I think the seasons from Dempster and Edmonds are way more improbable than the seasons guys like Ludwick and Lohse are having. I'd say they are about equally improbable. Why Dempster? He was an All-Star with the Marlins before. There's still some time left, he could fade a bit and we could see an increase in his WHIP. I don't know is he on pace for the same amount of Walks and K's as his AS year? I don't see what's so shocking with him though, other than his really nice WHIP. I mean, we're comparing our guys to the Cards comparable guys, what's more shocking, Lohse, Wellemeyer and Looper....or Dempster? No one could predict Dempster to be this good. Not even his own mother.
  18. Wouldn't Randy Winn be taking Ward's roster spot if the trade went down?
  19. Is Cuban married and if so how strong is that marriage? :starwars: Yep, he's married. Although I recall an early interview with Cuban when he was interested in possibly purchasing the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he joked that if he bought that team, he was probably looking at a divorce.
  20. I was pretty high on Bobby Douglass and Vince Evans. After that, meh. And that was a really long time ago. This team needs to get a legit signal caller, pronto. I've worn myself out wishing and hoping this team had a QB that was good for more than a game or two.
  21. Unless Moores slashes ticket prices by 50% along with his slashing of payroll by 50%, this will not be a popular move among Padres fans.
  22. I was at a sports bar in San Diego, and the game that FOX was showing was the Cubs/Cardinals game. Hmm.
  23. Wow. Way to insert your foot in your mouth, Moose. I was excited when the Bears signed Moose. I really thought he would be an ideal possession receiver with this weak passing attack the Bears employed during his tenure here. He didn't provide a boost at all. Truth be told, he pretty much sucked. And now he wants to run his mouth now that he's gone? Who does he think he is? Randall Moss? T.O.? Ocho Cinco? Dude, most fantasy leaguers don't even know who you are at this point in your career, Moose. Shut up already!
  24. Ugh I don't think associating one's self with Mike Vick and fledgling football leagues is going to help you buy a MLB team. Oh, that league sure will be going places if they are pinning all their hopes on a washed up QB who likes to pay to have dogs kill each other.
  25. I like how you provide stats for Chris Young and Carlos Quentin, but only provide "legitimately fine pitcher at a decent price" for Javier Vasquez. Go ahead and post this legitimately fine pitcher's stats for the season. An argument can be made that one would rather have Jason Marquis. I sometimes enjoy your arguments, Badnews. But, you can't sit there and blast Chris Young and a whole bunch of other people, yet praise the legitimately fine Javier Vasquez in the very same thread and get away with it.
