  1. there have been multiple Geovany Soto threads this season. but OMC, that picture is awesome on so many levels. Ok, sorry. I just signed on yesterday. Seriously though, I was being sarcastic.
  2. Hahaha. I forgot all about this thread. Only people like Ryan Dempster should make crazy predictions.
  3. I can't believe it took you all this long to start a Geovany Soto thread.
  4. Put the new one in Grant Park with the outfield fences facing the non stop, brisk wind that whisks between the tall downtown buildings. 500+ foot homers are fun for everyone. Actually, I'd like to see them stay in their current location and just renovate when necessary. Fenway and Wrigley are the last of the great old ballparks. Obstructed views, SRO, not being able to get tickets, is just part of the bad things that come from playing in a historic stadium. But, there are plenty of other amenities that make it worth it. 5. You shouldn't have any problems getting tickets unless the Cubs are in town. Moores is going to get kicked in the crotch on season ticket sales for 2009.
  6. I'm curious how many warning track fly ball outs Soto has had this year. Seems like he would be closer to 40 HR's if the wind blew out more.
  7. 6 games at Petco and 4 at Chavez Ravine? I'm in. I'm always out of town during the time when the Cubs play the Padres in August, but I think I'll take a year off from being out of town and do all 6 games in SD and all 4 in LA. Instead of a working vacation, I'll call it a baseball vacation. I might even make a trip over to the "BOB" for a few games.
  8. I envision pretty much the same team next year, with only a few noticeable changes (if the Cubs win it all). A lefty reliever to replace Howry. Pie replacing Edmonds in CF, but platooning with Johnson. Resign Blanco, Wood, Dempster If the Cubs do not win it all, I could see a few FA signings by the new ownership group letting Cub fans know they intend to win.
  9. I will be hoping for an Anaheim/Cubs world series. I already have tickets for a game in Anaheim if that happens.
  10. If the Cubs win this year, Piniella and Gerald Perry can have jobs for life for all I care.
  11. Hey, I didn't boo anyone.
  12. I felt the O-Line gave Orton the necessary time to get passes off, but Orton screwed the pooch one too many times. And if Tampa doesn't want Jeff Garcia, the Bears should ask about the availability of his services. Garcia is way better than anything we have right now. A half way decent qb that can hit someone for 15+ yards more than once per 12 attempts would be welcomed with open arms.
  13. This team needs a quarterback in the worst way.
  14. No it wasn't. Reliant Stadium (Houston Texans) was. Thanks!
  15. Was MinuteMaid Park damaged by the hurricane? I've been out of town for the last week and I'm way behind on the hurricane news.
  16. I'm looking forward to seeing Geo get several days off these last couple of weeks, he deserves it. I'd like to see that as well.
  17. I think the Yardbirds should fire LaRussa and hire Yost.
  18. I take that back. The announcers were the one's who gave me the info. The wife heard them say it and then she told me. I thought she read it on her computer somewhere.
  19. I can't provide a link, but right after I posted it, the guys announcing the Cub game just mentioned it as well.
  20. That's too bad. I really liked Yost........ managing the Brewers. :-))
  21. I'm sure I'm late to the party, but I just heard that Ned Yost got fired.
  22. Ahhh. Jealous. But you gotta hit those sports books... Ironically enough, I was in a Sports Book watching the football game. As far as I knew, the Cub game got played at normal start time (1:00 pm PST) and WGN just wasn't airing it. I spun my chair around in the Sports Book to watch the football game on the biggest tv and couldn't see other sporting events, except for the ESPN Sunday night baseball game, which was the White Sox, a game I cared nothing about.
  23. I was in Vegas with bare bones tv channels.
  24. Only got to see the final out of yesterday's game when ESPN went to bonus coverage. Didn't even know the Cubs were playing. When I flipped it to WGN at gametime yesterday, they just said they weren't broadcasting the game. Did they actually broadcast it later when the game finally did play?
