  1. I don't expect to actually see any rain, unfortunately.
  2. I actually like Fukudome in the 2 hole today. Lou is showing some confidence in him, now we just need Kosuke to show confidence in himself and make things happen with the bat.
  3. I only had to wait until 3:30pm for this game to start. I wish I was in Hawaii.
  4. I'm excited. Let's get this game going already.
  5. Also fitting the profile is that he is from the East Coast. Youngsville, NC. Not sure if that fits the vicinity, but it's all flowing together pretty well at this point.
  6. I ruled out Caverretta pretty early since he was only 19 years old in 1936 (the last year for those uni's. The guy in that photo is most certainly older than that. I'm liking the Jakie May likeness.
  7. You keep ignoring the obvious.
  8. I grew up in Central Illinois and was always a Cubs fan. I think WGN had a major impact on increased Cubfanship, but I would imagine the bigger population of non Illinois ties to Cub fans would be retired folk who just didn't like watching day time soaps and took comfort in day baseball games on WGN. I would also imagine that some fanship could be handed down through generations because that's who granddad liked. But, I don't really understand why a younger generation nowadays would latch onto the Cubs, since there really aren't nearly as many day games broadcast on WGN.
  9. The uniform is definitely from '27-'36 era. I'm horrible at looking for photos, so that's the best I have to offer at this time. OMC can probably use his resources to pinpoint the actual player.
  10. Doesn't really look like Grimm. Dude in the picture looks old enough to be a manager though, which Grimm did in the mid '30's. I can't tell. Maybe it's Babe Herman.
  11. That style of uniform was used from 1927-1936. Maybe it's Charlie Grimm?
  12. A great lefty from that generation would be Hippo Vaughn. I'll have to look for some photos of Vaughn.
  13. That uniform looks more 20's-30's to me
  14. You would be wrong. Look at the glove hand.
  15. Fielder=Fantastic???????? How many times did you curse his hefty behind in the game threads this year?
  16. Source It looked to me like he got hurt breaking the huddle. He seemed to get up fine after the play, but didn't go down until after they went into the huddle for the next play. I was watching without sound. I just figured it was cramps. I guess I figured wrong.
  17. Okay, my guys blew staying under the cap, so Vernon Wells will become a casualty of Fuzzy Logistics roster crunch. It looks like I'm going to go with this: C- Geovany Soto (exempt) 1b- 2b- Alexei Ramirez (exempt) 3b- Alex Gordon (exempt) SS- Stephen Drew (exempt) OF- Jacoby Ellsbury (exempt) OF- Matt Holliday OF- U- Ian Stewart (exempt) SP- Brandon Webb SP- James Shields (exempt) SP- Roy Oswalt For those interested, I have these fantastic players available for draft picks, minor leaguers, etc..... BJ Upton Carlos Pena Vernon Wells Johnny Cueto (exempt) Ubaldo Jimenez (exempt) Carlos Marmol (exempt) Randy Johnson Javier Vasquez Matt Capps Milton Bradley I would also consider trading two of my exempt players in my keeper list above (that are not named James Shields or Geovany Soto) for 1 exempt player.
  18. Before you go making a bunch of changes, make sure Juan fills you in on the newer rules. Cap is 2000 this year. Players with a minimal amount of at bats may not burn an exemption year. Forgot what the pitcher numbers are, but a batter with less than 50 at bats (or is it plate appearances) in a given season doesn't count as an exemption. Rosters don't need to be pared down until Valentine's Day.
  19. 1750? Ok, I'll take 2000. You have failed miserably at Negotiation 101.
  20. Cool. More pushovers, please!
  21. Haha. Where have you been? Tailgaiting for Padres games went out the window when they moved to Petco Park. You can still tailgate at Charger games.
  22. Let's pick someone who is less likely to have the ban hammer dropped on them rather than more likely.
  23. Stupid Mets and Brewers. Those 2 games at LA are the only dates I would NOT be able to go to LA to see the games. But, I am fixing on setting up a tv in my little work space for both of those dates. Just gotta bring enough cable and a splitter. :D
  24. Can't we just ask for the guys who do golf and tennis, so they can whisper the play by play?
