    I missed one of my league's drafts and if I were there I could've had Portis and Steven Jackson. Instead of picking Jackson, yahoo autodraft selected Lamont Jordan.

    He wants to be here long term, I am 100% sure the Bulls value him enough to lock him up long term. I am 98% sure that the Bulls will resign him, my only concern is how much because I expect him to make a big leap this year. JUST DONT PUT ANY 2 YEAR OUT CLAUSES IN HIS CONTRACT JOHN!! I think Pax has such a man crush on Capt that he won't leave much up to chance. I think he'll lock him up.

    Wait, so Grimsley came out and said that Pettitte and Clemens weren't some of the guys who he saw do roids? And didn't mention Tejada? According to ESPNNews, Grimsley's direct quote is "Never in a million years would Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens do performance enhancing drugs."

    On one hand, my favorite sports team's division lead is down to a half game. On the other hand, tonight's performance damned the band of my existence to never pitch in a Cardinals uniform ever again. Considering the fact that even should we make the playoffs we won't do much, I'll consider tonight's Marquis performance a win.

    What do you need? Find an opponent weak at QB and get what you need from him.

    I'm in an ESPN league which has the following roster spots: RB - RB/WR - RB/WR - WR - I have Clinton Portis coming back this week in addition to Rudi Johnson, Chris Chambers, Donald Driver, and Torry Holt. For you math majors out there, that is 5 studs for 4 slots. They all have their pros and cons. Rudi - Pro: Stud as usual. Cons: Playing the Steelers and their D. Clinton Portis - Pros: Stud, playing the Texans who have given up 255 rush yards. Chris Chambers - Pros: #1 target of Culpepper and great red zone receiver/deep threat, playing Titans. Cons: #1 target of Culpepper. Donald Driver - Pro: #1 (only) target of Brett Favre, playing Detroit, 247 yards in two games. Cons: #1 target of Brett Favre, no touchdowns yet. Torry Holt - Pros: Great, studly, and reliable, playing Arizona. Cons: Bulger/Offense struggling. Which one gets benched? I'm leaning currently towards either Portis for another week or Chambers. Rudi is tempting because they are playing the Steelers D.

    Pitching and defense don't win championships. That's just a nice tidy cliche that is incredibly misleading. Of course good pitching and defense help win championships. They are huge parts of a successful baseball team. It's important to be good at pitching, defense, AND offense. We could argue which is more important all day long, but I doubt anybody here will change their opinion. Let's look at the last few WS winners. Chicago, Boston, Florida, Anaheim, Arizona, and New York all had good pitching, good defense, and good offenses. Those three terms are incredibly vague, but basically to win a championship you have to be good to great in all of those categories. In addition to that, you have to be incredibly lucky as well.

    Wow. I don't think you'd find many Cardinals who would agree. That'd be sweet, but let's just say we'll see.

    With his repetoire (90-93 fastball, big curve, throw away slider and change) he is pretty similar to Matt Morris IMO. A healthy Matt Morris was a pretty darn good pitcher. Yeah, Wainright hasn't proven he has the sustained velocity or control to be like healthy Morris. I'm thinking more like 2004 Morris.

    Rumor has it he may have to undergo hip replacement surgery which would end his career a la Bo Jackson.

    It's not a very good comparison mainly because Carpenter sat on our roster for a full year without being activated. Mulder is more comprable to 2005 Matt Morris (good scenario) or 2006 Kerry Wood (bad scenario) in that he is going to be coming back the next year after shoulder surgery. Really though, we just lucked out that Carpenter came back not only healthy, but a far better pitcher than he was before the injury.
