Brad Guzan had some great saves to get the 1-0 clean sheet on the road in the Czech Republic in the UEFA Cup. Well done, Guza. O'Neill raved about him.

I hate you. We keep Aldridge we don't get Rose. I would rather have Rose and Thomas. Very good point. Still doesn't excuse messing up that draft pick though. I wanted Roy at the time. But, yeah we really screwed that one up. Sadly I wanted Thomas (love that upside). -

You watching these games? Most of Thomas' stupid 27 foot jumpers are from pick and rolls. I've only seen the Celtics game, thanks to my lack of WGN Chicago and CSN. that said, they need to to pick-and-roll where Thomas is heading towards the basket, not picking and then hanging out 17 feet from the basket I agree. That's on him though, not game planning or Del Negro's system as was being mentioned. Tyrus is just kind of a dumbass. This isn't a bad idea, but I would prefer the pick and roll where Thomas rolls, Rose ignores him and takes it himself. -

At this point I'm not worrying about Ty's scoring. If his scoring consists on all kinds of dunks, fine, I just want Ty on the court for 30-35 minutes being active on both sides of the ball. If he can eventually add a decent 10-15 ft jumper that's fine, but what now I want Thomas playing to his strength. Exactly. I want Tyrus to prove he can belong on the floor 40 minutes a game because he is active on offense and defense. His jumpshot, while by no means good, has improved a lot since he entered the league. Enough to the point where I don't hate him for taking an open jumper. Still not crazy about his moves around the basket, but he'll get there. Based on the preseason and yesterday's game, I think Tyrus has made some big strides in the offseason, and after Rose he is the player I am most excited to see this season. Tyrus can be compared to young Tyson Chandler. We saw what Chandler became after putting on some weight and pairing up with a terrific PG. I think he's more of a Kenyon Martin/Shawn Kemp. -

I'll be shocked if Hull do anything against Chelsea on Wednesday. They've certainly had an unexpected start to the season but they haven't exactly played anyone that impressive except for Arsenal. Just looking at the table, the 2nd highest team they've played is West Ham who are currently 10th. Combine that with Chelsea coming off the Liverpool loss and I think Hull will be lucky if it's only 0-3 on Wednesday. That said, go Hull City! Hull has no chance. I concur with you score. 0-3 is best case scenario. OMG we are awesome. North London Derby was crazy. Let's do a Landon Donovan destination pool. I think he'll go to Villa. Nike team, England, good club and American owner. My sleeper is Roma. No reason, I just think he'd fit in well.

Just so all my US MNT posts aren't negative, I want to point something out. Ives Galarcep has a post about the U-20 team's upcoming camp in Madrid for a friendly against Spain. Here is the roster: http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2008/10/us-under-20-nat.html Look at that roster. Hertha Berlin, Napoli, Sporting Lisbon, Brugge, Southhampton? Have we ever had so many u-20's getting this kind of pedigree and training? As for the MLS guys, Jorge Flores for Chivas is a very nice left winger and Abdusalam Ibrahim for TFC is an absolute monster and only 17. Add in guys like Charles Renken, Carlos Martinez and Stefan Jerome who are getting offers from clubs like Feyenoord, PSV, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Manchester United who aren't even on this roster; not to mention Freddy Adu and Jozy Altidore who are both under 20 and playing with Monaco and Villareal and you have some compelling talent coming up through the system.

Was this confirmed? I thought it was just speculation cause he was training with them so he can stay fit for England callups. Been running on all the news bottom lines today. Says he will stay with them till the end of the season. Smart money says he never comes back. What I'm trying to decide is if MLS would be better off. I know the Galaxy would be better off, but would MLS? I think there is an argument to be made.
