  1. Lol, the mockery continues... Beckham to Milan on loan. What a joke.
  2. Bayern look like a real team again! So inconsistent. It's been a ridiculous season so far.
  3. Douchey Slow Guys With Bad Facial Hair & Tattoos Monthly had a glowing article about him a few months back. I can't remember what month. It's the one with Dustin Hermanson & Scott Spiezio on the cover.
  4. Good ten minute runout for Jozy today. He tracked back well, got involved and made some dangerous runs. His teammates were looking for him but the service & opportunity wasn't there.
  5. The Madrid derby was fantastic. Royston Drenthe came on late and terrorized Atletico on the wing and eventually drew the penalty that won it. The reason I like to see that, even though I could care less about either of these teams, is because Marvelle Wynne made him his bitch for 90 minutes in the olympics. Drenthe has "world class" pace and it showed against Atletico, but as we saw in the Olympics, Wynne was able to run him ragged. Drenthe being in his offseason and Wynne being in mid-season form plays a part, but I think it says enough for Marv to take some time away from Frankie and Cherundolo in the future.
  6. Adu & Torres did nothing for me going forward. Maybe they are too small to play together because they were outmuscled by T&T.
  7. Edu was crap. Sacha was mediocre, as were Torres, Adu and Beas. The combination play without LD, Deuce and Bradley was crap. Jozy again had one of his super human efforts in the box that he has at least once a game. I like Davies a lot. Califf and Frankis were ass but I liked Orozco. Pearce was meh. Overall I think Jozy is first choice, Davies should make a lot games and Adu, Torres, Edu and Guzan are clearly subs at this point. Our best IX is TH SC-OO-CB-HP MB-Sk CD-LD-DB JA Adu & Davies are super subs.
  8. The starting lineup according the US MNT Official Blog: ----------------Guzan---------------- Hejduk---Califf---Orozco---Pearce ---------Edu--------Torres----------- Kljestan-------Adu------Beasley © --------------Altidore----------------- That front 6 is sofa king gorgeous.
  9. Some of Marvelle's exploits from the last three rounds of MLS for your Columbus Day enjoyment: http://theoffsiderules.blogspot.com/2008/10/who-hell-does-marvell-wynne-think-he-is.html
  10. Why the F do we care about a guy who's probably our 5th choice keeper? I don't know. The difference between him and guys like Jon Busch, Will Hesmer and Joe Cannon is negligible. Throw in bringing back KK & Hahnemann or calling up Seitz or Cervi he's probably more like out 7-10th choice guy. I think it's a little unfair to cap tie him and that's the end of his intl career if he could have a longer career with Norway. I guess it's up to him though.
  11. Troy Perkins is only getting the call because Norway approached him about naturalization. Matt Reis is far more deserving of the cap.
  12. GOALKEEPERS (2): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa: 2/2 SO), Troy Perkins (Valerenga IF: 0/0) DEFENDERS (6): Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA: 0/0), Danny Califf (FC Midtjylland: 2/0), Frankie Hejduk (Columbus Crew: 13/1), Michael Orozco (San Luis: 0/0), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock: 6/0), Marvell Wynne (Toronto FC: 0/0) MIDFIELDERS (7): Freddy Adu (AS Monaco: 3/0), DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers: 20/6), Maurice Edu (Glasgow Rangers: 3/0), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA: 4/0), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids: 11/0), Danny Szetela (Brescia Calcio: 1/0) José Francisco Torres (Pachuca: 1/0) FORWARDS (3): Jozy Altidore (Villarreal C.F.: 1/1), Charlie Davies (Hammarby IF: 0/0), Robbie Rogers (Columbus Crew: 0/0) "F@*! Kenny Cooper." -Bob Bradley
  13. Cooper and Marvelle made their case tonight to be included on the roster to be released tomorrow. Coop with 2 more goals and Wynne with a goal and assist.
  14. Torres is an interesting little player. Some Decoesque qualities. I don't know what I love more; Altidore being a manly man among men or Kljestan taking the Reyna role without the timidity and more ability with the ball at his feet. Great game. Can't wait for Bob's roster for T&T. Hopefully Coop & the man child up top with Torres, Adu & Landon on the field too.
  15. Don't mistake a bad hire for a bad fire. Skiles needed to leave.
  16. Looks like I’m not the only one who thinks it’d be brilliant. http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/sports/articles/2008/10/07/20081007soccer1008.html Mexican powerhouse Pachuca wants to build a surrogate team here in the valley. There isn’t a better team to do this considering their track record and youth development record. They are famous for developing incredible young talent. It could be a huge boon for youth soccer in the valley. With the Latino community and rich white kid community, we could start producing some major talent for the US National development program. A professional franchise will only help kick start it. The athletic potential in this city, not just soccer, is incredible. There are so many young families here, Phoenix is about to become and athletic factory. It's almost there as is. Also, Carlos Martinez was dismissed from the u-17 program at Bradenton for breaking team rules. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=579660&sec=us&root=us&cc=5901 This is significant beause Carlos was a super stud against teams like Brazil in the Nike friendlies last year. He looks to be one of the best young players we've ever had in the Landon, Freddy, Jozy, Renken category. Speculation is he'll either join the Galaxy or Feyenoord. Feyenoord, plz. In other young star news, I've seen some of Abdus Ibrahim for Toronto this year, and he is an excellent, excellent young striker. Has scored some great goals in MLS and is only 17. A Samuel Eto'o type.
  17. Way to go, AP. F U.
  18. I think not.
  19. http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/235589,ze-roberto-sets-sights-on-leaving-bayern-munich.html Dallas loves those old Brazilian left wingers. Ze would be much more successful than Denilson though.
  20. This game was by the way, one of the most thrilling displays of football I've ever seen in my life. Completely one-sided but freaking gorgeous.
  21. Giuseppi Rossi got called up to the senior squad over Del Piero. Also, Matt Taylor, an MLS washout scored a hat trick for TUS Koblenz in Bundesliga 2. I think he had 5 goals on the season. Quotes from Torres courtesy of Sideline Views. I love it. The Mexican/latin influence on our National team could take us to the next level in the future.
  22. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2008/10/mexico-fails-in.html#more HAHA
  23. Oh wow. i got excited there. New idea. Don't sub Howard and don't sub any defenders. Torres is a lock to get tied so the other two should be... --Donovan---Bradley---Adu----Torres ------Davies--------Altidore---------
  24. -------------------------Howard--------------------------- ----Stevie--------Gooch---------Boca--------Pearce---- ---------------------------Edu------------------------------ ----Dempsey-----Donovan------Bradley-----Beasley---- ------------------------Altidore---------------------------- After we go up 2-0 at the half ---------------------------Guzan--------------------------- ------Hejduk------Gooch-------Orozco-----Pearce------ ----Szetela-------Bradley------Kljestan-------Torres---- ----------------------Adu---------Altidore------------------
  25. Aguero v Messi this weekend. I will not be missing this game.
