  1. The Fire get $500,000 from Santos for the three month loan. Holy crap. That's awesome. I hope he leaves and Chicago uses his DP slot for a stud like Del Piero or someone else who has expressed interest in MLS. I like this Cepero kid for NYRB. I think he could be a MNT prospect in goal. According to Du Nord, the latest rumor for Gooch is Olympique Marseilles.
  2. I wonder if it's possible to cultivate something similar to a college athletics attitude towards it. People are still rabid about college sports even though the best players leave(sometimes before they needed to) to play at the best level. There's not enough tradition behind it, imo. It works in places like Holland, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico etc. There's no shame in being a feeder league. It's just that those countries are footballing nations.
  3. Ives I love me some Bundesliga. I think Kenny's size, strength and technical ability would thrive there. Frankfurt are a solid club, no danger of relegation (or Champions League for that matter), and it'd be a great foothold into Europe for his future plans. As a huge proponent of MNT players moving to Europe, I must say I am starting to be a little concerned with the MLS talent pool being so thin and constantly losing it's best Americans. The league won't take off if all the stars are Latin imports or aged veterans. Oh well.
  4. He'll get time. Podolski is a waste for Bayern and they'll sell him this January I suspect, Schweinsteiger wants a move to England (I don't see them letting him go though), Ze is for the off to MLS, Ribery is injury risk, Toni and Klose are old and Landon is good enough to play regardless of those factors. It's just a matter of him being more assertive and doing it for himself.
  5. Can Landon earn my love again? We're about to find out. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2008/11/donovan-heading-to-bayern-munich-on-short-loan.html
  6. Let's get one thing straight, I am a Kenny Cooper pimp for sure, but Jozy Altidore is my guy. He is the flat truth. He pantsed his man to get off that gorgeous cross for Cooper's goal (who accounted well for himself with a clinical finish), drew the foul that set up Adu's gorgeous free kick and drew what should have been a pk early in the game. Not to mention two or three other chances that he might have finished. I think in 5-6 years, aka the 2014 World Cup era Jozy Altidore, could have had a hat trick, the assist and the pk foul. He is a beast. With guys like Deuce, Donovan, Cooper, Davies, Jozy, Freddy, Sacha, Robbie Rogers, Torres and Bradley, we have got some offensive firepower for the next few cycles. Not to mention young studs coming up like Martinez, Renken and that other kid who I posted about a few pages back. I definitely love the striking trio of Jozy, Cooper and Davies. Edit - I sincerely hope Bradley took note that Cooper today not only tracked back like Brian Ching in a muscle suit but he got forward and made some dangerous chances for the team like Brian Ching in a good suit. So basically he is better than Ching in every way which by default makes him better than any other forward we have who doesn't play for a champions league contender.
  7. That shoulder is going to pop.
  8. Factoring modern day competition, Pujols is better.
  9. If they can stay healthy, yeah. May be a problem for EJ and Oshie. Berglund is a big guy. He should be fine. MacDonald's fall was nasty. EJ is a sizeable man too. I don't know if that bodes well for him or badly for Berglund. Probably neither.
  10. Andy MacDonald broke his leg. John Tavares here we come! Seriously, when all the high draft picks the Blues have stockpiled (that's a nice way to put it) mature in around three-four years, they are going to be awesome.
  11. http://theoriginalwinger.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/cooperusa.jpg It's on now.
  12. Guzan Franklin Parkhurst Gibbs Bornstein Adu Mastro Arnaud Kljestan Altidore Cooper That could score some goals.

  14. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2008/11/gulati-says-sub.html The Oompa Loompa shot down the Serbia story. Subotic not yet decided according to his agent.
  15. CONCACAF ruined Bayern's march to the top. 2-2 draw with Rob Friend and Michael Bradley evening it up in the 79th and 81st. Bradley wasn't involved in the first half, but neither was his entire team. He played strong box-to-box and put away a nice header after a great cross by his teammate. Oh yeah, Neven Subotic celebrates pissing me off with a brace for Dortmund.

  17. My heart is all aflutter at the thought of Landon transferring to my team and taking his destiny by the horns. Or maybe that's the venti americano I just drank. I don't know. There is so much potential for disappointment with this Landon thing. http://theoriginalwinger.com/2008-11-14-donovan-gets-klose-hoeness-and-klinsmann-approval If Hoeness is gives his stamp of approval, you've done something right. That is a hard man to please. Not as hard as the Kaiser, but Uli will be the one deciding if he is a player they want to buy and how much they will offer.
  18. Robbie Rogers has the potential to be viciously good. I saw a ton of pace and skill. He was the one player out on the field that looked like he should be in Europe. Crew Stadium must be like Mexican kryptonite, btw. He was at Heerenveen but came back two years ago iirc. He has a tendency to dive and whine as well as a tendency to foul stupid, but he can finish, he can shoot from distance and he is faster than Beasley.

  20. This is a sexy rookie class. Stars like Mayo, Rose and Beasley and a ton of potential stars like the Lopezes (Lopezi?), Love, Westbrook, Chalmers, etc.
  21. derrick rose is a prayer. i was about to disagree with you but i started going through the other true PGs in the league and you might be right. Those are certainly the only two i'd take over him going forward. In two yrs, I don't know if I would take either Paul or Williams over Rose. Me either. He is way stronger than Paul and way faster and more athletic than my boy D Will. Derrick Rose is scary.

  23. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=591392&sec=global&cc=5901 Nery Castillo pulls a Landon.
  24. I just read that ](*,) . Got my hopes up. Cooper will be in the squad, I'd bet on it. I'm glad that's not the final roster, because that is dog crap. That's a second rate MLS all star team.
