    So folks, I think I need to step up and clair responsibility for last night. I listened to the game until I had to put the kids to bed. At that time they were cruising up 4-1 I think. When I come back they are tied 4-4. I listened until I had to let the dog out. In the 2-3 mins it took me to let the dog out, they lost. CLEARLY, last night the mojo was in my hands and I fumbled it. Sorry about that. On to tonight. Go Cubs!

    yea, it was part of the joke. Cool, just checking. Thought I might have missed a memo or something. Um...why is it out again? It's nondiscriptive and has pejorative canotations. It's still in use in geogrpahy. Oriental = East, Oxidental =West. Where those terms came from is beyond me. They are derivations of the latin terms for East (oriens meaning "east" (lit. "rising" < orior "rise") and West (occidens meaning "west" (lit. "setting" < "occido" "fall/set"). Interestingly enough, it is only a perjorative term when refering to a person and only really here in North America. It is still common and not offensive in Europe, even the UK. Wikipedia is so cool!

    I agree, but if the offense scores 4 and the opposition scores 3, and we are in the 9th inning, whose job is it to get those last three outs? Dempster...... And with that, I am not very comfortable.... Are you? I'm never comfortable no matter who is closing with a 1 run lead. Dempster has been good, it's just a bad day. It's Sept. 06 and we are still in the race with 24 games left. Get over what happened today and move on. Bingo

    I suggest a forum (I think it deserves more than a thread) where people can ask basic or complex baseball questions and have them answered in a non-confrontational way by some of the more baseball and/or stat savvy posters. It could also serve as a reference for people who just can't quite remember what ERA+ measures or what GIDP means etc so posters can look there before feeling stupid. While I cannot say this has been a big problem so far, it could be a nice feature to add. What do people think?
