  1. I'll call the "Leave him stranded" I lose! I dropped the soap!-AY!
  2. It's really nice having him available off the bench.
  3. I'll call the "Leave him stranded"
  4. I'm pretty sure he is David Blain
  5. That's what I told my nephew the last time we faced him... I don't know.... last time we put up double digit runs was Thur 16 Aug against the Reds when we beat 'em 12-4. In the 14 games since then (8-6), the CUBS have been putting up an average of 3.43 R/G with a team OPS of .669. Their high output is 6 runs in the Friday game against Arizona a week ago, and their low is 1, which was achieved 4 different times. I sure hope facing Woody Williams is antidote for whatever's ailing us !!! The only other alternative may be electro shock therapy ???? Go CUBS !! Wow, I knew we were bad...but that is pitiful.
  6. I really wish we had gotten buried by June...This would be a lot less painful to watch and we'd get a decent draft pick. That's just ridiculous. WE'RE IN FIRST PLACE! Remember the feeling, we won't end September that way. yeah, because the other teams in this division are so good. They don't have to be good, they just have to be less terrible than this team who struggles to get 2 runs a game. I hope I'm wrong, the 5 games against the Cards will probably be the decisive factor. len just laid it out. if we play .500 the brewers have to go 17-12, the cardinals even better. I understand that we have the advantage...but it's not like we've been playing .500 ball since we cooled off. who besides, cinncy has in this division? August records: Cards are 14-13 Cubs are 12-15 Astros are 14-14 Brewers are 8-18 Reds are 17-10 Pirates are 17-12 So only the Cubs and Brewers are playing sub-.500 ball in August. So the Reds and Rates are playing well. one game over .500 isn't playing all that well. Nobody is saying that 1 game over is playing well...I'm only saying that it's better than playing 3 games under. They keep that pace up, which I don't think they can. They won't pass us. I hope you're right! Making the playoffs would be great. Falling on our face letting the cards make it in our place would be tough to swallow. That said, I hope the Cubs offense remembers what to do so this is a moot issue.

Granted that's cherry picking since they lost 5 in a row to start August...but they have definitely been playing good enough to overtake us if we keep trending like we have been this month.

  13. I agree, I was thinking 2 would be more than enough.
  14. Doesn't matter that much, Wandy is shutting us down...as if that wasn't predictable.
  15. It was rather horrible. I don't disagree, but FFS you have the bases loaded in the 9th.
  16. Anybody got this on EI? The Brewer's announcers are STILL complaining about the call on Hart's last AB.
  17. Living a few miles out of St. Louis, I hear them non-stop. The only peace and quiet I've had this year is when it looked like they were dead in the water...many of them stop watching games altogether. This resurgence has been more than a little annoying because those same people are now self proclaimed die-hards that never gave up hope. Some even claim that they deserve to win because of all the hardships they've had this year. I keep hearing it's a friendly rivalry, but it sure doesn't feel that way. I'd personally like to see the Cards moved to an open air stadium in Las Vegas.
  18. Nice outing by Hill. Wonder if he can stay in and hit.
  19. I wish we sucked like Braden Looper.
  20. Maybe we are just saving all of our offense up for a September run. This is brutal.
  21. The slightest bit of offense in the past 2 weeks? We're leading this thing by 5 games. Yep, it's been tough to watch. So many wasted pitching performances too.
