  1. Less racially controversial: http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2009/1101/chicago_g_toewsts_400.jpg
  2. Burnett to pitch Game 5, apparently. Burnett on short rest or Chad Gaudin? Tough call.
  3. http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/3531/burish.jpg Adam Burish as Rodman.
  4. Maybe Rich can be one of those deals where a player is traded for a PTBNL and then traded back as the PTBNL.

  6. Tremendously well put.
  7. I can't really imagine that all of this was ever anything but that. As I see it, the Cubs have two options. 1. They get the benefits of a new facility but have to move cross-country for it and then when they set up Grapefruit League camp in Florida, they have to compete with teams like Boston, St. Louis and both New York teams, all of them entrenched in the region. or 2. They can frighten Arizona into building them a shiny new complex and get the same benefits of a new facility while not having to move and maintaining their hold on their unofficial title of the only "real" big fish in the Cactus League aside from maybe the Dodgers and the Giants. Which would you do?

  9. Cliff Lee just emasculated the Yankees. Awesome.
  10. Don't exaggerate, I can't be more than the 92,000th person. Harold Reynolds was fired because of a hug that set off a sexual harassment suit. Phillips got the axe for... well, all this. I think there's enough of a difference there to indicate that Phillips won't be sitting behind the desk in front of a camera anytime soon, unless it's as the local sports anchor in Poughkeepsie.
  11. http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/df/fullj.b539d5f85f4a0b6a9d2bc1b40adf197f/b539d5f85f4a0b6a9d2bc1b40adf197f-getty-.jpg Sorta makes you wanna quit baseball, donnit?
  12. Clearly Steve's acumen for personnel decisions hasn't improved since he was a GM. ... Too soon?
  13. Meh. I advocate the Series ending and the offseason beginning as quickly as possible.
  14. Per FOX Sports, Pujols to go under the knife tomorrow, but to remove bone spurs (or chips or whatever) from the elbow rather than full-on TJS.
  15. I couldn't see the sky from standing room - from that perspective, where you can't see any higher than the bleachers, the ball just seemed to go straight up and disappear. The misconception didn't last long, of course, but that's what it looked like.
  16. This. Why would you try to go to second with the ball in that spot?
  17. http://tinyurl.com/jaramillo8 Get on it.
  18. Both knees too, just be be sure.
  19. Absolutely. Bring the guy on board and get him to work looking at tape and watching BP and have him add a toe tap here, widen a guy's stance there and see what he can do, just make sure the team doesn't start hacking at the first pitch every single at-bat.
  20. If Jim's asking Milwaukee for a player that they traded away, he really should be fired.
  21. So if Soriano's 2005 season saw him hit 36 home runs, drive in 104 runs, hit 43 doubles and go 30/32 in stolen bases but only hit .268 and only get on base at a .309 clip (I know, there are far better metrics than that), then he had an unequivocally bad season?
