  1. Keeping it very possible he won't bat again, regardless.
  2. Barring a big inning or two, looks like Starlin's first ASG goes 0-1, K, 2 SB.
  3. It is hot outside But we are under the roof There is no score That's only one syllable short of being a solid haiku by Joe Buck.
  4. Castro and Quade:
  5. Everyone just needed a round to warm up. This is ridiculous.
  6. Those HRs by Prince. Oh my god.
  7. NL getting embarrassed. Bring back 2002 Sammy.
  8. Castro will follow Tulo at some point tomorrow. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=6759292&campaign=rss&source=CHICAGOHeadlines
  9. http://www.csnchicago.com/07/11/11/Ramirez-All-Star-invite-turndown-is-disr/kapman_article.html?blockID=540591&feedID=661&awid=7201541826454644836 Who had "David Kaplan" and "by 6 PM Monday" in the pool?
  10. The DH is used even in NL parks now, so pinch-hitting for the pitcher is probably out. I would think Starlin enters the game in the 5th or 6th inning one way or another and plays the rest of the game, but we'll see. And as Bochy sets his lineup, Tulo is indeed playing short and batting 8th.
  11. Tulo probably figures to start. However, Reyes was replaced by Sandoval, leaving Starlin as the only other shortstop on the NL roster, so it's all Starlin once Tulo gets pulled. Watching Sandoval try and play shortstop would be kinda fun, though.
  12. Watching his son at Daytona for the weekend.
  13. Amazingly, Rolen would be an All-Star with or without Aramis, which speaks to the flaws of the system.
  14. I get that injuries happen and stuff, but with everything that's gone on, I'm not sure how we're expected to take any of this seriously. Scott Rolen and his .680 OPS will be starting at third base for the NL. Jon Lester was named as an AL All-Star to replace a Sunday pitcher and was then himself replaced because he's on the DL right now. The NL starting third baseman and the reserve third baseman both get hurt and the one NL third baseman actually deserving of a spot doesn't go because he was contacted too late. I realize there are procedures that they have to follow in naming replacements due to the player balloting and fan balloting and all that, but at what point does MLB step back and realize the clusterscrew they're heading towards, if they haven't already arrived at it in full?
  15. What a joke.
  16. Rolen was next in the player balloting after Chipper, hence the travesty we see before us. Blame the players.
  17. Awful. Absolutely awful. The players are almost as bad at selecting All-Stars as the fans sometimes.
  18. Some guy in the stands tried to get to second base.
  19. Chipper is now on the DL, Polanco is ailing and may soon be the same. Aramis may yet get his chance.
  20. He has the same problem that Plesac did when he was in the booth, I think, which is that he's not saying anything particularly egregious, it's just that he keeps talking and talking and talking. What exactly is a "Michael McKenry"?
  21. Angels gave him Vlad's no. 27. No pressure.
