All of his offdays this season have been scheduled, at his own admission. I don't know if he's said whether tonight's is or not, but given that they've been scheduled, one figures that whatever's keeping him out of the booth here and there was planned in advance. Could be of his daughters graduating high school and moving her into college, maybe? -

If the home plate ump is visibly of deteriorating physical condition due to the heat, shouldn't it be required that he leave the game? How is anyone involved supposed to have full confidence in his ability to call balls and strikes, a confidence that is limited even without the weather?

Clouds gathering. The supposed haul would be Kipnis, SP Alex White and minor league pitcher Drew Pomeranz. White was scratched from his rehab appearance, Pomeranz was scratched from his start at AA and word from the Rockies media is that Ubaldo could be "scratched at any minute".
