    It's awful that the only thing I can hope for now (save for a natural disaster that bloodlessly cancels the entire NLCS) is a Detroit/Milwaukee World Series where no one watches and FOX gets screwed in the ratings and we all forget it happened.

    Dodgers and Diamondbacks go to the 10th tied 1-1. Dodgers put five on the board in the top of the inning and take a 6-1 lead. Diamondbacks, with two outs and nobody on in the bottom of the inning, get a single, a single and a walk to load the bases, score a run on an error by some guy named Aaron Miles (6-2), get another run on a bases-loaded walk (6-3) and then win 7-6 on a grand slam. By Ryan Roberts. Do you know who Ryan Roberts is? I do, but only barely.

    Am I wrong in being more surprised that this sort of thing doesn't come to light more often, especially with fringe guys, than I am that it happened in the first place?

    It's not actually that bad given that it's a hat logo - they aren't going to be taking the field wearing a giant rainbow "M" emblazoned across their chests like some sort of South Beach rec-league hockey sweater. Watching the games as most of us do, you'll hardly ever see it up close. The wordmark is believed to be generic, for an apparel maker's generic t-shirt or something similar, rather than specific to the rebranding. It's not as if their current hat logo is any great shakes either.

    I was at one of these games and was just as surprised as you were. Geographically, I suppose it shouldn't have been that shocking, but my goodness, the way that lot reacted every time a Twins player got a hit (which was quite a lot, alas), you'd think the game, the division and a title had been won on a base hit.

    Catcher Steve Clevenger (no. 51) and right-handed reliever Rafael Dolis (no. 66) up, active and at Wrigley tonight. The moves bring the 40-man roster to capacity.
