  1. Z must have cut open Barrett's brain and sucked out what remained of Michael's hitting prowess.
  2. I wouldn't bother trying to combine those two last names. Therenot good ways to pull it off, trust me. /ducks You are a Pun-dit at combining names.
  3. Or Pagan could go...he is the next one to go... Agreed, when Aramis comes back, Fontenot should stay, Pagan go down, and Izturis to baseball limbo.
  4. Right now Fontenot and Theriot are two heads of the same spark plug. FONRIOT?
  5. I'm thinking that we should go ahead and resign Z to that multi-year contract, then resign Barrett also for the same number of years. My idea is that every year before opening day, Z will beat up on Barrett and then the two will make up, thus ensuring that Z will pitch good from the beginning. Anytime Z goes into a slump, the Cubs schedule another clubhouse beating. This way we get maximum productivity out of both Z and Barrett.
  6. As a Cubs fan you can only eat 2 things: Crow or Flak.
  7. Now if we could only combine a video of Homer Simpson with audio of Ron Santo freaking out during a Cubs win...
  8. The way Berkman has been hitting this year, the Astros might actually benefit from Lance not playing
  9. Speaking of eyes, he's supposed to have 20/10 vision. Scout.com interview with Vitters I know for sure Barry has good eyesight cos he uses "The Clear".
  10. Interesting. I thought the idea was for Soriano to be a good influence on Pie, but it looks like just the opposite. Actually, no, not a surprise at all. Felix is a winner and a very special kid. I've yet to hear from anyone that has played with Pie that didn't absolutely LOVE the kid as a teammate. And of course, you know that Felix has played in the league championship for every team at every level he's ever played for, right? World Series, here we come!! Hehe, to think all these years we only needed Felix to break that damn curse  Felix is a baseball Leprechaun. He eats goats for breakfast.
  11. Link Haha, then maybe that's telling you something Ferg. Maybe Ferg should do what Ryno did and get his feet wet at a lower level first.
  12. And why shouldn't the Manager have influence over the roster? He's the one who has to put these guys together into a cohesive team. It's only logical that he has a lot of input as to who is available for him.
  13. The Cubs have too many head cases already. Just say NO.
  14. Watch out! Trammel is on a roll. 2-0 baby!
  15. Too bad Lou cant get Eyre or Howry sent down cos of those contracts Hendry stuck them with.
  16. Additional Moral to the Story: Never give relievers a multi-year contract.
  17. If they took a chance on Wade Miller they should take a chance on Mark Prior, even at that amount. Meh. I don't think he should get anymore than Wood's $1.75M
  18. This bears repeating... http://i14.tinypic.com/4y4w3fm.jpg
  19. The most likely scenario is that Prior is signed to the Dempster special: $1M for 1 year with a team option for another $1M to $1.5M
  20. I think everyone related to the Cubs has done enough waiting. 99 years for crying out loud!
  21. Actually, plate discipline has nothing to do at all with Moneyball. Moneyball philosopy is taking a commodity that the rest of the market undervalues and takes advantage of it by "buying low". Plate discipline/OBP used to be undervalued but the rest of the league (except the Cubs) have been made aware of it and so it is now being paid for at a better market rate. What Hendry did with Soriano is the exact opposite of Moneyball, cause he overpaid for commodities which the rest of the market overvalues (home runs and stolen bases).
  22. So do we start purging players again for the sake of Chemistry? What's next? We trade them for guys who can catch the ball?
