  1. Disclaimer: In my payroll calcs, I do not spread out signing bonuses across the life of the contract unless it is reported that the bonus will be paid that way (like Jacque's). Currently under signed contract: $92,025,000 (Soriano, Ramirez, DeRosa, Lee, Ward, Blanco, Zambrano, Lilly, Marquis, Dempster, Ohman, Eyre, Howry) Arbitration eligible and likely to be tendered: $2,250,000 (Infante, Wuertz) Our own free agents likely to be re-signed: $5,000,000 (Wood) Other monies committed: $2,100,000 (payment to Detroit for Jones, buyout of Trachsel's option) Auto-renewal players likely to be on the roster ($425,000 per): $2,975,000 (Pie, Theriot, Soto, Murton, Hill, Hart, Marmol) Subtotal: $104,350,000
  2. He's eligible for arbitration.
  3. Sean Marshall to Houston for Luke Scott Ronny Cedeno, Jake Fox, and Juan Mateo to Oakland for Bobby Crosby Matt Murton to Cleveland for Cliff Lee
  4. I don't want to start a new thread just for this, so I will temporarily hijack this one. What's the deadline for Scott Eyre to exercise his player option?
  5. Also, Rich Hill is underrated. Anyway, if Hill is going anywhere, it's to the Marlins for Hermida or to the Orioles for Markakis.
  6. After Chip Caray called HOF RHP Pud Galvin "Puhd" (rhymes with "mud") instead of "Pood" (rhymes with "good"), I'll be anxiously awaiting the Atlanta broadcasts of Cubs-Braves games, should the Cubs manage to sign Kosuke.
  7. Go ahead and sign Cordero. Kosuke, too. Wood, of course. Move Marquis in the rumored deal for Winn. Move Dempster to anyone who will take his entire salary. Pitch Marshall and Gallagher in the rotation.
  8. If the suggestion that Hendry is paying only Jacque's signing bonus, the savings are closer to $3.5. Infante's not winning $2.0 in arbitration. Punch Drunk may wind up giving it to him, but an arbiter won't. $6.33 (Jacque) - $1.33 (payment to Detroit) - $1.5 (Infante) = $3.5
  9. I've cracked the case! Why Hendry traded for Infante: The Venezuela native...posted a .413 batting average (19-for-46) with runners in scoring position in 2007.
  10. Maybe they have already agreed to a deal and are waiting until Wednesday (the first day he can be signed) to announce it? Actually teams cannot discuss money with free agents other than their own until tomorrow.
  11. They can sign with their current team. See: Schilling, Curt
  12. If the cash consideration is merely the portion of Jacque's signing bonus that is due to be paid this coming January, then it's not objectionable.
  13. LOL! $50,000 on the under on that one, please.
  14. No chance he takes over DeRosa's spot. Matsui will take over DeRosa's spot.
  15. Just from quoting others in this thread, they say he doesn't have the arm to play SS. Of course, neither does Ryan Theriot.
  16. Check out the "Similar Batters through Age 25" down at the bottom. LOL! http://www.baseball-reference.com/i/infanom01.shtml
  17. Given that Hendry is involved, I think the best that we can hope for is that he signs Matsui to the same deal he gave DeRosa last offseason. What I really expect is that he gives him the same deal in terms of years and dollars, but makes the third year a player option.
  18. Infante is certainly nothing special, but his stats have been significantly suppressed by Comerica over the last three seasons: Comerica - .221/.254/.317/.571 Elsewhere - .274/.315/.438/.753 He's also an option as a RHH CF.
  19. I expect ol' Punch Drunk to give Matsui the same contract he gave DeRosa last season.
  20. Jacque is solid in RF only in that he is neither a liquid nor a vapor.
  21. Jacque seems like a very fine gentleman, but he needs to go. Between Pagan and Fuld, we should be able to cover a complete Pie collapse.
  22. 800 runs? The Chicago Cubs? The under on that is one of the surest bets in all of sports. The Cubs have topped 800 runs once in the last 30 years.
