  1. Not great, but he is 3 for 5 tonight.
  2. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2022/8/23/23317569/chicago-bears-roster-cut-down-tracker-practice-squad-rules-injured-reserve-alexander-jean-delance The Bears have officially released offensive tackle Julién Davenport, fullback Jake Bargas, defensive tackle LaCale London, corner BoPete Keyes, and receiver Dazz Newsome, and they are now at the mandated 80-man limit.
  3. To borrow a bit from George Carlin, praying to Joe Pesci for Wicks' left arm.
  4. He needs to take up residence in the pitch lab.
  5. That would be worrisome, but also he's 26 and has 40 IP above A ball with 25 BB, and might be out of options next year(I can never be certain). He's basically another Espinoza in my mind, which is to say I'm not putting much weight on his performance one way or the other. Handy reference for options remaining: https://www.thecubreporter.com/cubs-40-man-roster
  6. In general, we frown on that sort of thing.
  7. To be fair to Tom, catchers take longer and Hearn has pedigree. Top 10 is a bit of hyperbole, but he's a prospect.
  8. If I were another bad club, I might spend the Rule 5 fee and draft Cayne Ueckert (despite his disastrous season). No way the Cubs can protect him, obviously.
  9. I think Estrada is a slam dunk addition to the 40-man. Brault, Leiter, Mills, and Newcomb are all under club control and have some value, but what counts against them is that each will be out of options in 2023. Alzolay, too, but you'd have to think that, if healthy, he at least begins the year on the 26-man roster. Bote is still owed a bunch of money AND he'll have an option remaining. Also, I don't think it's out of the question that Rivas survives.
  10. Rick Monday is probably the best. Save us, PCA!
  11. With a LHP on the mound for the Reds, the defense is almost certainly going to look something like this: LF Happ CF Velazquez RF Suzuki 3B Morel SS Hoerner 2B Madrigal 1B Wisdom C Contreras DH Reyes Could go with Gomes behind the plate and Contreras as the DH, but I imagine they'd like to get Reyes in there.
  12. Please allow me to take care of that for you. It's the home run. It's always the home run.
  13. The very definition of a non-prospect.
  14. USA Today: In the letter, Smith claims that the Bears new regime, led by first-year general manager Ryan Pace, has "refused to negotiate in good faith." Smith added that he and Chicago's front office had been negotiating since April without a deal being reached.
  15. Dermody makes 38.
  16. Silly question. Why would Hosmer approve the trade unless he was getting something out of it?
  17. Let's hope "Wesneski" is not Polish for "Simpson".
  18. Are there any examples of players with similar minor league stat lines to that of Vientos that have gone on to have sustained success in the big leagues?
  19. Did this rule change?
  20. Let us hope that the Riley Reiff signing means that the "Julién Davenport era" becomes something that never occurred.
  21. The Astros' AAA team is in Sugar Land, a suburb of Houston. The two ballparks are 22 miles apart.
  22. No meaningful trade value. Much more valuable to the Cubs.
