  1. I know Manny wants out of Boston, but why would he agree to Baltimore? It is still in the Northeast, and is a bad team. He would have no hope of winning there. Tejada's complaints don't make it seem like a very desirable place to play.
  2. How good could we be if we trade for Zito and call it an offseason? Pierre Walker Lee Aramis Jones Murton Barrett Cedeno Z-Prior-Zito-Wood-Maddux Dempster-Howry-Eyre-Wuertz-Ohman Is that a 90 win team? Playoff team? A team as good as the White Sox last year? I guess it all comes down to health, but assuming they don't suffer any HUGE injuries, how far can they go?
  3. I personally would keep Zito. A top 3 of Z-Zito-Prior would be awfully intimidating, and if healthy, would nearly keep you in the race on their own. Put Jones back in left, sign Hidalgo and let he and Corey battle it out for playing time in Right. At the very least an outfield of LF- Jones, C-Pierre, RF-Hidalgo/CPunk would be fantastic defensively. If neither is panning out come June or so, THEN look to acquire a bat for rightfield again at that point(small market team looking to unload..ala ARam, Lee) Zambrano Zito Prior Wood Maddux Best case.....whoa Is Zito better than Jerome Williams? Not looking for a fight, but just asking. I certainly believe so, Zito is a horse, as well as being electric when really on, and can throw a lineup off for days(especially sandwiched between to righthanded fireballers) 86 wins...5 straight 200+inning seasons...3.50/1.22 career #'s in the AL.....CY Young.......post season experience. I like Williams, don't get me wrong, especially for the $$$. Does this really happen? We hear it all the time with Wakefield and the knuckleball, but is it true? Maybe it does, but I find it hard to believe. If a hitter sees a Zito curve on Tuesday it will make it tougher to hit a Prior fastball on Wednesday? How?
  4. Fine by me. Better him than Prior. Unless it's him AND Prior! Naw, Hendry isn't that dumb...right?
  5. I think we are all happy about the bolded part. I know I am.
  6. The O's would be stupid to turn that down. But the O's are stupid.
  7. Ugh. Maybe the more he complains the less it will take to get him. Probably not. I would love to have him, but not for Prior or Z. If I'm Hendry I offer Hill, Williams, Walker, Patterson and start working on Plan "B".
  8. Does anyone have Tejada's stats from this winter league team?
  9. I would imagine you would agree that we can't go into the 2005 season with this for an outfield: (assuming Patterson will be traded) Jacque Jones Juan Pierre Matt Murton Jerry Hairston John Mabry That might be one of the worst outfields ever assembled. Better than last year's outfield, but not good enough.
  10. Remember they gave up Wilkerson, Sledge, and more to get him. To acquire Soriano from Washington, I would guess Walker, Patterson, Hill, and a Welly-tpe reliever would be included. Again, I do not want Soriano. I would not trade those guys for him, but doesn't it seem like something Hendry would do? I guess thats my only real point here.
  11. The no decision vs. Carpenter last season.
  12. Do you think Burnitz is just following Sosa around the country so he will seem good by comparison to the teams fans? Next stop: Japan?
  13. Except Perez for Walker and either him or Jones hitting in the two hole. Thats more likely. And what about Gonzo requiring an extension to 2007 in order to waive his no trade rights? Meh. Hendry needs to think even more creative. And there's no way Weaver is going to take a 1-year deal when he's going to get at least 3 years from some other team. Depends on how confident he is in himself. Milwood benefitted greatly from his 1-year deal. He is also a Boras client. Weaver will have the option of a muti-year deal; but if he can put it together next season, he can get a monster deal next winter.
  14. 1. MSU...Most Talent + Izzo 2. IU...Even Davis can't ruin that much talent 3. Illinois...Weber is a very good Coach 4. Ohio State...Dials is a beast, Thad has a good thing going 5. Wisconsin...Bo Ryan is a great coach, but I don't see enough talent there 6. Iowa...Another underachieving year for Alford 7. Michigan...They are getting better. 8. Minnesota...Not that good. 9. Northwestern...I like Carmody, he might win a few he shouldn't 10. Penn State...Um, it's Penn State 11. Purdue...Purdue is really really bad this year. They havn't been this bad in decades. I mean really bad.
  15. six man rotation??? Naw, the first 5 are the rotation, the others are options after injuries.
  16. Anyone else worried Hendry will try to get Soriano from the Nats if he can't get Tejada? The Cubs clearly need another bat, and the only positions left are LF, SS, and 2B. Soriano and the Nats don't seem to be on good terms after the trade. I think it would be a bad idea, but one that I coould see happeneing.
  17. \:D/ Good News indeed. Hope it's true. Time for Hendry to jump all over Gonzo + Cash for Corey (if that's true). Then sign Weaver up for a 1 year deal, similiar to Milwood and Cleveland last year. Pierre Walker Lee Aramis Gonzo Barrett Jones Cedeno Z, Prior, Wood, Weaver, Maddux....Williams/Rusch/Hill/Guzman Dempster, Howry, Eyre, Williamson, Wuertz, Ohman, Williams/Rusch Looks good to me.
  18. I vote for this instead of Prior-Tejada. Pierre Walker (let me dream) Lee Aramis Gonzo Barrett Jones Cedeno With Murton as the 4th OF. Thats a solid line-up. Add in Prior, Z, Wood, Maddux, Williams/Hill/Guzman/Rusch. Add Dempster/Howry/Eyre/Ohman/Wuertz and I think we have a winner. That is simply a better team than one with Tejada and without Prior.
  19. Other reports say it is a 5 year/$60M deal! I wanted Milwood, but not that bad.
  20. WOO HOO!!!! Great game by the BEARS! Grossman can take this team to another level. I'm thrilled with the way things turned out, but I akso want to applaud Orton on going 9-4, and saying all the right things the whole time. He is a very respectable #2 QB. Bring on the Pack and the division title!
  21. Moose's man only peeled off after the ball was thrown. He was more covered than it looked like. Wouldn't have mattered as Orton would have thrown it 10 yards out of bounds anyway.
  22. Moose had his man beat down the sideline on that 3rd down play. Nice FG. PLAY GROSSMAN!!! C'Mon Bear "D"...Time for the games first turnover.
  23. They clinch the division with a win tonight since the Vikings lost. They would have the tie breaker even if they lost the last 2 games and the Vikings won the last 2 because the Bears would still have a better division record. At least that's what I think... Not quite yet. The Bears need 1 more divisional win to clinch the division. Won't happen tonight, but hopefully Christmas day.
  24. I think they needed a NYG loss yesterday to clinch today. I do know that a win @ either GB or Minnesota clinches the division. That could be a great Christmas present. GO BEARS!
  25. Is Hillenmeyer really out with a thumb injury? Couldn't he play LB without a thumb? Guys play with casts all the time. It'll be harder to get an INT, but everything else should be the same.
