  1. Did Burnitz not officially sign with the O's? This could be a good day. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bb/3559670.html This is buried in the article:
  2. At this point in the offseason I would offer Walker (since he is gone anyway), Patterson, Williams, and Hill for Soriano and Livan Hernandez and cash. Pierre Murton Lee Aramis Soriano Jones Barrett Cedeno Z, Prior, Wood, Hernandez, Maddux
  3. Today won't help the defensive stats.
  4. The Reggie Bush Bowl looks like it is going to OT. 17-17 :45 seconds left
  5. Ugh. 17-3. I don't really care if we win or lose as long as there are no injuries. I would rather not get killed though.
  6. As do I. And by "see" I mean watch his stats add up on NFL GameCenter.
  7. Why is Jones still in? Does he have 1300 yet?
  8. Is it serious? Was in a lot of pain, but thankfully he walked off just fine. Good, Good. All the more reason to sit everyone you can. I wouldn't mind seeing Jeff Blake pretty soon.
  9. He could always pull a Costanza and try to get fired. Can't you picture Singletary running driving around the parking lot in Montana's old jersey dragging a Lombardi trophy behind his car? Me neither.
  10. NFL rules are that a coach cannot accept a lateral or demotional move from one team to another if he is already employed (i.e. a defensive coordinator from, say, the Chargers going to be defensive coordinator for the Vikings). This is why Ron Rivera is the defensive coordinator and not Tampa Bay defensive line coach Rob Marinelli, who was named Assistant Head Coach. So, Samurai is Assistant HC in San Francisco. He can't be hired to be a defensive coordinator since that would be a demotion from that post even though he is their LBs coach. If his contract were up in the offseason, this move would be possible. However, to my knowledge, it's not. I'm sure he'd love to come back to Chicago and coach, but that's not happening in the near future. Marinelli, on the other hand, does have his contract up at the end of this season. Good timing if Rivera gets hired to go be a HC somewhere. I did not know that. What if SF hypothetically gives him permission to make the switch?
  11. 10-0 Texans Good news for whoever the Saints want to trade the pick to.
  12. They reseed in the NFL after the 1st round. SO if the Bucs lose, the Bears play the winner of NYG/Carolina. I agree with you, so Go Bucs!
  13. Bring back Singletary? He's assistant HC, so at this point the only job he'll be getting is a head coach job. I think Lovie and company are just going to screw around out there today. See what works for future reference. I wouldn't be so sure. I think being the DC in Chicago, of a Defense like this is a better job than asst HC in San Fran. Especially for a Bear like Singletary.
  14. Houston is winning/losing Reggie Bush bowl, depending on how you look at it. Texans 3 49ers 0
  15. Gametime. I don't have it on TV here, is Benson able to play today?
  16. I would have rather Jim hung up the phone laughing when Prior's name was mentioned by the O's.
  17. In theory, Grissom would be replacing Jones vs. LH pitching, not Murton. As Homer Simpson says "In Theory, Communism works, In theory."
  18. As long as Dusty understands the bolded part, I agree. How sad is it when you really believe that your manager will play a 39 year old has-been who hit .212 last year over a promising young outfielder who has had success on the big league level? It's the life we lead.
  19. Jeff Moorad traded for Shawn Green. Sabermetrics deal strictly with numbers, this is a non-issue. If the point of the thread is do white American players have a different style of play than African-American and Latin players you can debate that. Do sabermetric people prefer white players? Of course not.
  20. Did anyone post this yet? From the tribune... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-051230cubs,1,515246.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Paul Sullivan Wrote Thats the first mention of this I have seen, outside of the Denver post.
  21. Do they have editors? Here is his IU description: "D.J. White and Marco Killingsworth will be the top inside pair in the conference (and one of the best duos in the country) once White is fully recovered from a broken foot. Both can score inside, will demand double teams and can make the outside shot. White is also an excellent shot-blocker and will anchor the Hoosiers' inside defense. Surrounding them are good athletes that are solid on both offense and defense. The way I see it, Mike Davis and his staff have a versatile roster with which to work. The only trouble spots so far for the Hoosiers have been committing too many turnovers and relying a little too much on the three. But White's return to form should help tighten up both areas. " Good job Yahoo.
  22. Beane is one of the best. Out of curiosity, what did we give him for Barrett? I know it isn't the same as Zito, but I can't remember who we traded.
  23. If Manny wants is privacy, he should retire. He will not get it playing anywhere in the majors. He will be a superstar in whatever city he is in next year. When he goes out to eat it will be in the newspaper, when he sells all of his clothes in an auction out of his apartment it will be news. When he goes missing for 3 days in July, it will be news. Manny needs to deceide if he wants to be left alone, or if he want to play pro baseball. Just Manny being Manny I suppose.
  24. I know Manny wants out of Boston, but why would he agree to Baltimore? It is still in the Northeast, and is a bad team. He would have no hope of winning there. Tejada's complaints don't make it seem like a very desirable place to play. There were rumblings he would accept a trade there. Yeah, I know. I just don't understand why he would.
