  1. Yep, a lot of that was touched upon in viewtopic.php?t=20816&start=0
  2. A lot depends on his price tag, I think.
  3. His production -- his power in particular -- would likely drop off. I do think he could produce .800+ OPS seasons in MLB, although his strikeouts are a concern.
  4. He's an excellent defensive receiver. I think he loses a lot of his value if you play him somewhere else. I doubt he'd sign with a team that didn't intend on keeping him behind the plate either. I think that about sums it up.
  5. He was blocked early on in his career and then took a couple years to figure things out. He has an .300+ IsoP over the past couple years, though. So who cares? :D He played 15 games in CF last year but I think Iwamura's bat would play much better at 3B or 2B in MLB.
  6. Johjima Declares Intention to Go to MLB Gary Garland just threw that last paragraph in there to tease me.
  7. Through today he is hitting .312, 15 HRs, 66 rbi, .904 ops. He does have 11 errors though. Yep, his full line is .312/.379/.525. The Swallows had promised to post him after last season. They "changed" their minds come November, much like the Hawks did to Iguchi after 2003. The Swallows did say they would consider posting him after this season but I understand their reluctance to part with their 26-year-old star.
  8. He's expressed an interest in MLB but I haven't heard any rumors about him being posted or even asking to be posted. Doubt we'll see him in MLB next year. Meh, he's almost 29 and has never produced an OPS over .800 across a full season. He's also 3 years from free agency. The BayStar I covet is Hitoshi Tamura. 28 years old. .305/.363/.624 last year, .344/.418/.688 so far this year. It's a shame he's 4+ years away from free agency.
  9. Sure, I'll do some research this week and try to put something up this weekend
  10. For the sake of encouraging different viewpoints and new voices, I think there are more mature ways to express disagreement than calling another's ideas "stupid", but that's just me. Not just you, but it still doesn't rise to the level of a personal attack.
  11. I don't think that's how the players will view these games. I think they'll be played with passion. I think they'll be played to win. I understand your concerns about injuries but I think these players deserve the chance to represent their countries. And the prospect of a Japan, USA, Cuba, Dominica Republic/Venezuela final four has my head spinning.
  12. They're meaningless if MLB is the only form of baseball you enjoy watching. I happen to enjoy the game in many different forms and can't wait for this to start.
  13. His account wasn't banned. What makes you think it was?
  14. Where did that come from? oh god is adam dunn not white? brb Your remarks are getting less and less funny.
  15. Please don't resurrect a huge old thread for one item. Start a new thread and link back to the old post if necessary. Thanks.
  16. Ichiro wasn't a slap hitter in Japan. He adjusted his style when he came over to be a more effective leadoff hitter in his mind. I think the injuries and the NY spotlight took their toll on Kazuo. He isn't and never was as good a hitter as either Ichiro or Hideki, but I still expected him to hit at least as well as Iguchi has this year.
  17. Don't forgot all the pitchers, either. The only elite Japanese players to fall flat on their faces to date have been Kazuo and Irabu.
  18. I think he's been a huge disappointment. I still think he has the talent to succeed if he could ever get healthy and get out of NY, but I don't think that's very likely at this point.
  19. Abe is years away from free agency (think 2010) and I don't think we'll ever see the Yomiuri Giants post a player to MLB. Kenji Johjima will be a free agent after this season. He'll likely be the next Japanese superstar to take a shot at MLB.
  20. Don't know about anybody esle, but last part of that post seemed real close to a personal attact.... There's a fine line between calling a person stupid and calling an idea stupid, but that's where we draw it. I do think everyone should take a step back before things get out of hand in this thread, though.
  21. All but calling people hypocrites and whiners is more insulting than questioning, and I never said anything about being condescending. Everyone is free to have their own opinions. I think there are much better ways to defend your position than labeling a majority view "groupthink" and spouting off conspiracy theories, but that's just me.
  22. I think it's time spent on the 25-man roster that counts, not games played, but I could be wrong.
  23. Will Abreu be a 5/10 guy after this season?
