  1. guess i was thinking houston because I remembered those orange jerseys
  2. he has a son named aramis jr, he brought jr to the allstar game in houston when jr was a toddler.
  3. let's just substitute embittered instead
  4. Wrong - The Sox draped a blue L flag over the front desk in their ballpark lobby after Friday's victory in a not-so-subtle shot at their crosstown rivals. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/cs-080627-ozzie-guillen-chicago-cubs-white-sox,0,1621550.story Stay classy, white sox.
  5. dare to dream, a positive mention of hill in the sun-times http://www.southtownstar.com/sports/1031347,063008sptcubsside.article 'We'll just keep playing it week by week,'' Hendry said. ''We've got our own people to worry about getting back. And I got some good reports out of Arizona on Rich Hill, that our pitching people think he's going to come back. ''Until (something happens), you just have to focus on your own guys, and that's what we'll do. If the opportunity comes in July to add somebody we think will help us, then we'll try to do that.'' Hill has had a couple of side sessions and a simulated game with pitching coordinator Mark Riggins at the team's training facility in Mesa, Ariz., and Riggins reported progress, Hendry said.
  6. Murton can't crack a lineup vs a lhp when half the outfielders are hurt. he won't be a cub much longer, which is best for him and the cubs. that said, i'd want to replace marquis with maddux, and that's incredibly unlikely to happen.
  7. weren't the pads once interested in murton, or am i imagining that?
  8. I wonder if the cubs being on sunday night baseball again last night cost them an extra day in terms of ramirez returning, since he probably could have left sunday late afternoon - evening otherwise.
  9. if you read this, sorry for the misspelling, Harli! :hello:
  10. he has a sister named Harley
  11. it's a brutal stretch and it stays brutal through the st louis series. good thing the cubs built up a little bit of a cushion heading into this.
  12. there's a difference between a player inadvertently getting caught on camera flipping off fans or whoever and a pitcher flipping the bird on the mound knowing that everyone will see it. kerry got caught, he didn't chase down a microphone to say that all sox fans are idiots. players do stuff like this all time - edmonds used to flip off bleacher fans behind his back when he was with the cards - the humor value is when they get caught doing it.
  13. i'd like to see interleague rivalries be one 3-game series each season, alternating parks. it would help even out some of the disparities in interleague play.
  14. they'll need to make a decision on which sean stays in the rotation on friday when Z returns. think they'll stick with gallagher over marshall? i wonder if they'll try sending marshall to the pen again with eyre on the dl. hope not, but i guess it's a possibility. even though gallagher has done an awesome job I think it might be smart to send gallagher down to maybe help limit his innings for September. I hear what you're saying, but I also think gallagher needs to stay on a starting routine. it wasn't a good idea to sit him for 9 days and expect him to be sharp. now that's he thrown 120 pitches, he's got to be on a short leash his next outing. the one thing that bugs me with lou is when he overmanages the rotation.
  15. The past few years, the White Sox have pulled way too many players off the scrap heap and made stars out of them. Im not saying, Im just saying. Basically every team other than the Cubs (besides Edmonds) does it. We all know the Cards are the best at it. on xm they include reed johnson as a scrap heaper who has done well for the cubs.

  17. will lee and ramirez ever heat up at the same time?
  18. one or both of the seans will probably get dealt by the deadline, so the rotation slot problem will probably get solved that way. it will be interesting to see who loses their slot when z returns, though.
  19. i don't have the tv on. they said on the radio show that he threw a long side session and felt fine, no pain in his shoulder.
  20. makes game threads much more fun to read, but i've ended up foeing people who insist on quoting cubsgm more than twice a game thread.
  21. i honestly didn't expect ronny to get a hit there good job
