  1. see garciaparra, nomar
  2. i'm fine with taking it easy on him
  3. if he didn't think harden had many starts left in him, getting a durable young pitcher who can stick in the rotation for the rest of the year probably balances out in terms of expected wins. a's control gallagher for a long time at a cheap price. that's all i've got
  4. i'm trapped at work, any reports would be much appreciated!
  5. I think it's instructive to realize that, on the whole, the rest of the country would like the Brewers to beat us. Yes there are a lot of Cub fans out there. But with that comes many more Cub haters. The national media probably has quite a few. Secretly, many people are probably out there rooting for a Harden injury. Sorry to say, but I have no doubt it's true. i think it's also harden's injury history + the cubs injury history with prior and wood + the belief that beane always wins trades, so (since people seem to think the cubs' package of players suck) harden is about to go down again
  6. if beane was set on getting back a young pitcher he could immediately slot into their starting rotation, he may not have had a better offer than gallagher. the yankees and red sox, for instance, have been reluctant to deal their young pitchers. if the espn sidebar is accurate, gallagher is who beane targeted from the get-go from the cubs. for all the talk about how the cubs don't have young mlb-ready bats, they do have some pitching depth, even now.
  7. She hates it from Oakland's perspective. Doesn't think highly of anyone the Cubs gave up. Likes it from the Cubs perspective. thanks
  8. the oakland a's doctor apparently taught or trained dr. yokum, the Cubs orthopod, which hendry said facilitated the review of medical records.
  9. i read someplace that larry would give it up, he's worn 3 numbers since arriving with the Cubs.
  10. xm radio kept saying it was sean marshall in the deal while i was driving in. you wouldn't think that two pitchers with the same first name would cause so much confusion.
  11. and gally was also probably the price for getting it done sooner rather than later
  12. yeah, score is saying harden to the cubs NOTHING OFFICIAL YET though
  13. they didn't predict, didn't sound like they knew what the mri said, they just said it wasn't something serious enough to have him dl'd.
  14. according SI's tom verducci on the score.
  15. they were saying on the score this morning that edmonds had an mri on his foot done yesterday. they didn't expect him to miss any playing time, but he'll probably sit out a couple more games than he otherwise would because his plantar fasciitis is acting up
