  1. Queen you are! I saw you out there in the trenches today getting tix for others. And Seth ursuped me as King this year. Good job guys! I was not as fortunate as last year, but with the help of friends still got 15 games. However, most importantly, theres going to be an NSBB meet up this year!!!
  2. I counted 27 a couple hours ago, I assume it hasn't changed.
  3. Everyone's afraid to give me your credit card # or something? I love a block from the stadium (Grace and Clifton), you can come kick my ass if you get weird charges... if we still dont have enough for the meet up, ill give you my cc info, let me know, ive been getting in but cant get that game.
  4. Yeah, this year is much different than last year. At this time last year I already had 6 bleacher tickets to the White Sox and 2 sweet seats to the Red Sox. Those were the days....it better open up soon. I got class at 1! Yeah, me too...
  5. This is a longer lull than last year, but its bottlenecked right now and only a few people are getting through. Keep on trying, the windows will start popping soon.
  6. The man, the myth, the legend...6 bleachers for 8/19 and 6 for 4/29 and counting.
  7. Unless you are using two computers...
  8. If this is true, then all the worry about Walker not starting shouldn't be a concern! Sorry, I still don't understand the love Walker gets on here, he certainly doesn't get that kind of love around MLB and the non NSBB Cubs fans (to an extent). While he may be the best available option at this time, I understand completely that 2B would be a position up for grabs for the Cubs. As for the 2 hole, I would think having someone who can move the runners over would be a must. If DLee is having another year like last year, the concern should be more about the guy batting behind him in the order than in front of him. If they keep walking DLee and ARam is driving them in a lot, then teams won't be so anxious to walk DLee everytime 1st base is open. Putting DLee on first should be viewed as a positive, rather than a negative...its one more chance to score! The only NL secondbasemen with OPS over 800 in both 2004 and 2005 are Kent, Walker, and Giles. Considering Giles is making over 1M more than Walker already in his first year of arbi, and Kent is making 6.5M more than him, Walker might be something of a good value. Frankly, I dont care what you, the rest of the MLB or non NSBB cubs fans think. I know that Walker is a ridiculously good value with average (not detrimental) defense. Would you have liked 90 more OPS points coming out of second base last year for the cards?
  9. Did anyone see the Walker quote where he said he wishes Hairston the best of luck and is completely fine with either Hairston or himself starting? Notice Neifi is nowhere to be found as I'm sure Walker sees him as Pokey the second.
  10. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited until about 730 tonight to get a wristband and it also took me only 5 minutes. I heard reports of not even moving after an hour of waiting right after quitting time tonight, but that seems hard to believe. I pulled 315, which even though its completely random is a bad number because no one really knows what is the highest number they are giving out. But I'm 10 minutes away so it shouldnt be a big deal. Last year I went for a wristband at about the same time and was one of the last people (after waiting for 2 hours) to get a wristband. And at that time they were giving them out at the fomer Byrons building, which was much more efficient than the clubhouse cafe, or whatever its called, that they were using this year. Based on the responses to this thread, even the diehards are cutting back big time (including myself) on ticket orders. Way to go Jim! I'll be on tomorrow and hopefully I have the same success I had last year and can share the love with y'all.
  11. your trades... yes yes no yes yes no I see a pattern forming here.
  12. I thought their tickets didn't go on sale until the 25th?
  13. Marlins last is absolutely ridiculous.
  14. 1 fantasy team is enough for me, but if you'd be so kind, I'd be very interested to see your draft results. In fact, does anyone think it would be a good idea to create a sticky where people can post their league's draft results to help each other out?

  17. I've been wanting to get at some final results from my league last year to do just that, create sorta a VORP based on the 5x5 categories, but can't get at any of that data. Anyone know how to do it (I'm in a yahoo league), or even from a larger sample size?

  19. hendry not doing the best job he can might be opinion, but jacque jones is not an upgrade to burnitz at all, and that's statistical fact. Comparing last year's numbers, yes, but projecting forward I would say jj is a slight upgrade. Upgrade enough, most definitely not, but in 2006 most likely a slight upgrade.
  20. That's not really how it works. Well, he doesn't physically sell them, they get homeless people to do that, but newspapers are a business. The more inflammatory and sensationalized, the more people are going to want to buy it.
  21. Just think where that team could have gone if it had some pitching. For the record, that team had exactly 2 more walks per game than the cubs did last year. 4 players had more walks than DLee did this year. Hmmm, so you are telling me that if you put nearly 400 more men on base, you can score 400 more runs?!?!? Woah woah woah, do other people know about this?
  22. Don't forget that Rogers job is to sell newspapers. He reaches both target audiences if he can work the cubs and sox into the same column.
  23. '98: 135 games '99: 133 games '00: 103 games '01: 126 games '02: 140 games '03: 130 games '04: 135 games '05: 93 games 8 seasons averages out to 124 games per season. That means he misses, on average, roughly 38 games a year. That's nearly 24% of the season. How is missing almost a fourth of your games considered "durable?" And as already pointed out... he's 38. He was known as an injury-prone player coming into St. Louis. Call the injuries "fluke" if you want, but I don't think he's the lock you're expecting him to be. Exclude last years freak injury and hes played in 80% of the games, which means on average hes sat about once a week. Nothing wrong with that. The last year he had durability questions was 6 years ago.
  24. Screw the orioles, I'll take Manny and Arroyo. And if Im feeling saucy then trade prior for tejada, bedard, and penn.
  25. I would have liked him INSTEAD of Pierre. Hes a better fielder, a better base stealer, sees more pitches, would be under our control for 3 more years, is much much cheaper and, is more versatile so can be moved when pie is ready. Not to mention he wouldn't have cost us anything more interms of prospects than pierre. Plus, the angels are a much much better team with Erstad in CF, Kotchman at 1b and McPherson/Quinlan platoon at 3rd.
