If that's anywhere close to being true, it's definitely not a bad contract for Aramis, though. Hopefully he'd take it, but I suspect the Cobs would have to pay more than that to keep him.

Again, I don't understand the logical connection between that opinion and this thread. It seems like you're trying to get a rise out of Vance (in other words, trolling). Is there some connection that I'm not seeing? Are you confused and posting in the wrong thread, perhaps?

I agree that the distinction between earned runs and unearned runs is problematic, but Detroit also allowed the fewest total runs in baseball.

When the number 8 hitter is Aaron Miles? I really doubt that. It's not like you need to worry about getting a double play or something. I suppose it's possible that walking a guy like Miles to face the pitcher has a negative effect on the Cards run-scoring chances, but I'm skeptical.

I don't get intentionally walking the number 8 hitter. Unless you're playing the Yankees or something, it just doesn't make a lot of sense.

I think signing Burnie was Hendry's real mistake, rather than giving Dubois a shot in left. -

Remember, it was supposed to be Dubois/Nomar vs Alou/Gonzalez. But then Nomar's groin exploded, and Dubois didn't perform like we hoped. -
It also includes Nick Johnson who had a better year at the plate than anyone on the Cobs. The most consistent thread seems to be race.

Why would Suppan get 5 or 6 million more per year? They're both pretty average pitchers.
