  1. A half season's worth of number be damned, I take Beltran over McLouth and Zambrano over...scratch that, Lincecum is better than Z... but anyways, if winning the game is important then you take players who are still in their prime and have a longer history of better production. I do disagree with how Perry wrote the captions, using past all star appearances as reasons that they should make the team this year, but I don't have much of a problem with most of his choices.
  2. Vince Coleman getting rolled up in a tarp machine is the best one. Add Hunter Pence's sliding glass door incident and Clint Barmes' venison staircase mishap to the list.
  3. Their system is mediocre. They have a few intriguing pitching prospects, but no outright studs. Hitting-wise, there's not a whole lot there. I like Adrian Cardenas quite a bit. Not much else to like as far as the hitters go.
  4. An argument could be made that Brian Roberts has been the best 2b in the AL thus far.
  5. I saw A.J. Pierzynski on some show yesterday and I actually didn't hate him.
  6. this game is making me really sad so far.
  7. Shawn Chacon's 2004 proves the over rated-ness of the "save".
  8. just nitpicking, but could you possibly use a placenta as your avatar going forward. thanks... Um, that's my daughter. She'll be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Thanks for the advice though. thanks. please post the first puke. i'll post my cat's next retch. all baseball related dontcha know... I don't understand why you are being such a jerk about the guy's daughter avatar. were you quoted, Cool? Luke? what we have here is a failure to communicate... umm ok, chief.

  10. You think Cleveland is going to trade CC within the division? I don't. Yes, this. I think the fact that the Sox have one of the worst farm systems in baseball would hinder any potential trade.
  11. Does BRob frequent the boards?
  12. Sheets is one of my favorite pitchers. If I knew he'd be healthy I would give him a ton of money this offseason.
  13. I hope he goes out a winner and it has nothing to do with how I feel about him.
  14. Since OPS+ directly corresponds to OPS, a discrepancy in OPS corresponds to a discrepancy in OPS+ and vice-versa. If both OPS's were from the same league and year.
  15. your opinion is wrong.
  16. He only has about 400 games at other positions. In the BR fielding section they list stats as an OF as well as stats as a LF, RF or CF. The point still stands, just not to the same extent.
  17. I think the fact that he entered his prime in over the past 2-3 years has more to do with it, especially since his home/away splits over that time are very similar. Yeah, could be. But he only had one season of +.800 OPS before the Cubs, and since he's been there he's never been below .912 He was also younger than 25 for most of his pre cub career.
  18. Aramis and Wright are so close offensively and defensively that the main reason I'd take Wright is the 5 years he has on Ramirez. Chipper is a hall of famer and he has been quite a bit better than either of them over the last few years when healthy. How about the hybrid Bill Hall/Russ Branyan super third baseman? Pretty funny platoon, but Hall v. LHP and Branyan v. RHP has been pretty great this year. .358/.440/.767 .1207 <-------hall/branyan's combined platoon numbers this year.
  19. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Mark%20Mulder&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=150426 13+ era in his triple A rehab starts. awesome.
  20. Does everyone remember when Javier Vazquez was Javier Vasquez?! I do
  21. Joe Morgan, the 2005 White Sox also won with great pitching and home runs! Idiot!
