  1. He's a prospect with a far higher ceiling and chance to be a solid rotational player. The only reason he isn't showcasing it is that he's buried behind Deng, Brewer and Korver.
  2. That was just my best guess at what the Lakers would be looking for in return. I'd much prefer to keep Butler. I think he could develop into a poor-man's Deng. Wow. Doesn't mean he's worthless. He could be a solid a bench guy; gives you 15-20 minutes with a good PER. I think he is saying Noah and Butler for Pau is not anywhere close to a fair trade for the Lakers. Plus picks. Hey, maybe that isn't enough, but then I think we arent much of trading partner for anyone unless we are willing to deal Deng and Noah. No one is going to take Boozer's contract.
  3. Really? Butler too?? That was just my best guess at what the Lakers would be looking for in return. I'd much prefer to keep Butler. I think he could develop into a poor-man's Deng. Wow. Doesn't mean he's worthless. He could be a solid a bench guy; gives you 15-20 minutes with a good PER.
  4. Or, more precisely, that everyone they talk to about upgrading their own roster is asking for Noah, Asik, and/or Gibson.
  5. Yup. I can't decide whether to get excited about three in a row, even though they are were each against top 5 teams (points-wise) in the league. I still see significant holes on the 2nd and 3rd pairings and on the 3rd and 4th lines. The goaltending has been inconsistent, though I think that is as much a product of bad defense as it is shoddy play by Craw and Ray.
  6. Also should we be looking at getting-in on Monta Ellis? He's on the block and is a lethal scorer from the 2. PER is a solid 19.3 and TS% is .522. Has 1.7 offensive win shares in 28 games.
  7. Przybilla choosing between Heat-Bulls-Bucks-Blazers Who do we drop/de-activate if he is signed? Can't drop Lucas due to injury concerns; Scalibrine? Not White Mamba!!! EDIT: Take that back - we have Mike James now. Go ahead and drop JL3.
  8. Really? Butler too?? That was just my best guess at what the Lakers would be looking for in return. I'd much prefer to keep Butler. I think he could develop into a poor-man's Deng.
  9. I have a sinking feeling that Emery will sign crappy players and that our offense will be no better off. I hope that I am wrong.
  10. Agreed. I don't get why people hate him. His run up the OF wall in Baltimore was cool as hell.
  11. Huh. Interesting reclamation project.
  12. Matt Forte is a little more then "no talent whatsoever" So is Johnny Knox. He's fast.
  13. That would be a terrible trade for the Bulls. Nobody on that team comes close to being able to guard Lebron. I feel like a healthy Deng is essential in beating Miami. A Howard deal is the only way I can see the Bulls considering considering trading Deng. Agreed. I don't think Gasol solves our problems if it means giving up Deng. On the other hand I would consider Noah, Butler and picks for Gasol... Rose Hamilton (if he's ever healthy again)/Brewer Deng Boozer Gasol
  14. My source on Yawkey Way says its Jeff Russell. :^o
  15. Given the brevity I didn't think it was bad. It was a pretty good summation based in metrics, near as I can tell.
  16. Thunder: 11-5 Spurs: 13-5. That's all I care to count up right now. These are all the teams(including the Bulls) over .700 + the Celtics. Some of those teams must not be doing as well as the Bulls against the bottom half of the league... That's part of it. The other part of it is that the Bulls have had the 2nd easiest strength of schedule in the league (4th easiest when factoring in home/road like Sagarin does). A team like Oklahoma City is 14-5 against teams over .500 and 8-2 against teams under. The Bulls are 8-6 against teams over .500 and 17-1 against teams below .500. BTW SSR you don't have to count them up. If you go the ESPN NBA standings and go to expanded standings, it shows each team's record against over .500 and sub .500 teams. And now please tell me how many of those games were back-to-backs with their best and/or second or third best player injured...how many of them were played as part of a long (4-plus games) road trip.... That was rhetorical. My point is that those stats strike me as fitting under the well-known Andrew Lang quote about drunks and lamposts. They look meaningful on their face but in reality are pretty shallow.

  18. Half these people aren't even Illinois fans? Smack's devolution into da bum is the real story here. I ain't no Illini fan. I'm just here for the Purdue chicken wings.
  19. I wonder what Sean May is looking like these days. Leave my team out of this....and yes he's been a horrendous pro....but he was a great college player....even better than DJ Byrd. This sort of reminds me of the "Great Jewish Sports Heros" line from "Airplane": "Would you like something to read?" "Do you have anything light?" "How about this pamphlet, 'Great Purdue Basketball Heros'?"
  20. And, IIRC, have had far more NBA'ers over the last 20 or so years...
  21. All 5 without Rose, Deng or both. With Rose and Deng they are 6-1 against +500 teams. (@Lakers, @Clippers, Grizzlies, Hawks, @Celtics, @Orlando. Loss @Atlanta) Yeah, they said during the game last night that the Bulls started 5-1 vs. teams currently in the playoffs. But were 1-5 in the last 6 against those teams. And that the Bulls needed to show they could beat the good teams or something to that effect. Being a person who talks back to the TV, I said "how many of those were without Deng and/or Rose?" You'd think people who get paid to do a job would be more informed on what they are talking about. And they said that stuff right after saying that Rose and Hamilton have only played 9 games together, and the starters have only played 5 games together.... I was yelling at the TV with you Raw. My wife can attest. And that stat itself is dumb, IMO. They are 6-6 against the best teams in the league? That's pretty good. You get fat during the regular season against the sucky teams aim to do better than .500 against the rest. Only the exceptional teams (the 96' Bulls, for example) kick the tar out of everyone. This Bulls team isn't on that level and it doesn't need to be....at least not yet. If Miami adds a piece or two they will probably be there themselves.
  22. Should ask for Vanek while we are at it.
  23. Yes, this. We need better second and third pairings. Hell, we might need to break up 72.
  24. haven't heard anything but bring it please Ryan Miller's resume of one good season won't save this team. Goalies, IMO, are only as good as the defense in front of them. There are exceptions, but Miller isn't one.
  25. Not sure I agree. The only true impact player that I know to be available is Nash, and he won't come cheap. Plus they need at least one defenseman and - arguably - a goalie. Not sure we can fill all of those holes at this point.
