  1. I wonder if its part of a bigger deal.
  2. Now that totally sounds like the kind of move we make at the deadline. Yup - like a younger Handzus.
  3. No Hoss and poor 2nd line center means they will struggle. This could be trouble.
  4. From a cap perspective I don't see how you get around including Bickell. IMO, Bickell, one of the A or high-B level forwards, plus at least a 1 and 2 gets is a good package, but I'm guessing Vancouver is also going to want a forward who can step in right away and score.
  5. Miller got the Sabres way more than filler. Stewart is first or second line forward, Halak is a good, young goalie, and Carrier is a B-level prospect who should be a good third line scorer when he's ready. Edit - Kesler is worth a similar return, IMO
  6. I can't imagine we'd be willing to part with enough pieces to make a Kelsler deal work. I would think they'd demand Teravainen, two 1st round picks, and someone like Saad. That said, in order to make the numbers work we'd probably have to part with Bickell. And I'm not sure why we need Brodeur. I think Raanta has been fine. Just for a secondary source on this... http://triblive.com/sports/penguins/5686336-74/penguins-kesler-sources#ixzz2uuMGelOY The Pens - who have arguably the two best centers in the game (Toews, Stamkos, and Taveres certainly are part of the argument) - want Kesler for their third line? They'll have to part with one of their young, talented wingers. Is Kesler going to play on the second line with Malkin then? The Pirri trade makes me wonder if the Hawks are serious about going after him. They picked up an extra third round pick. That might indicate they are trying to build depth in the second and third rounds in-case they have to part with multiple number one picks in order to make a Kesler deal happen. Still, they will have to clear cap space in order to make this deal, and that means Bickell and his $4 mill cap hit have to go (note that he has a limited NTC).

  8. I'd rather have Denard than any of those guys.
  9. At first glance, I thought you put Villanueva's stache over Theo's eyes. "Listen up! You may not look like a winning team...." [PREGNANT PAUSE] "....pass the beer nuts!"
  10. Forte is elite. I can agree with the rest.
  11. He'd be a good fit in NE or Pitt, coming off the edge and killing QB's. I'd love it if they could turn him into a Lamar Woodley-type.
  12. That was an old fashioned physical ass kicking. Snot bubbles.
  13. Was thinking more about the draft and reading-up some. What about moving down to SF's pick and getting their no. 2 to boot? That would give us three picks between 30 and 55 that we could use to address nearly all of our defensive needs. SF does it to ensure they get Mike Evans.
  14. Yeah, looks paraphrased to me. That said, those are some full-on, unveiled shots at Mack Brown.
  15. Just a hunch, but I'd wager that Levine knows a good looking young Asian man when he sees one. I see what you did there. Thank you, sir

  17. Better not be just a uniform change. I can get those any time I want. How about a trade for Kershaw?
  18. Larry Himes is the reason behind so much frustration
  19. Oakland could wind up with Clowney or Manziel, and they are a usually disfunctional mess. Makes for good tv.
  20. Eh? What NY? I'd say the order of most to least likely is: 1. Pitt 2. Oakland 3. Chicago
  21. Nah, it's the opposite. None of his 2.5 mill is dead money. He makes perfect sense to cut. If that's the case then you pretty much have to cut him.
  22. No point in cutting Bennett, IIRC, because his entire salary would still count against the cap. No savings.
  23. At the risk of patting myself on the back, that's what I suggested earlier in this thread. He needs to be able to run free to be effective. Same with Shea. Makes you wonder what the plan at LB will be.
  24. I've been the only one not completely rejoicing and I've said how I would have handled it. I've also said that I'm very happy with the deal. Also, the #1 priority of the offseason wasn't to improve the defense. It was to get the QB situation under order. Granted, now that shouldn't be an issue for at least 3 offseasons to come. So you'd franchise him, thus giving him an unavoidably gigantic cap number and leaving the QB position in continued flux? By not doing that they are more free to improve the rest of the team and draft a decent QB next season. Not going to be a significant difference between the franchise number and his cap number. If rumors are correct. ....he's averaging 18mil throughout the deal. Franchise number is 16mil. Even if u backload the deal, its not going to be low enough this year to make a difference between fixing the defense and not. Even if its "only" 1.5 mill that's significant given how many wholes they need to fill.
