  1. If Pax does not take Rose he ought to be fired. Beasley is basically Derrick Coleman's lil' brother, and is the antithesis of everything Pax claims to value in a player. Show some nuggets, Pax: take Rose and trade Gordon or Hinrich.
  2. Hmmm, I'd disagree with that sentiment. This board existed before Sean Gallagher was with the Cubs, right? This is not a high school player being discussed, who may or may not choose professional sports -- it's a major league athlete. Jim Hendry has a father, doesn't he? (Though perhaps he is no longer with us, I don't know.) If one of my parents chooses the internet to bask in the pleasure of my professional success, and it gets noticed by people who have an interest in or knowledge of my career, they'd have plenty of people ready to note what an ass I am. (But of course, they wouldn't, and if they didn't, it wouldn't get noticed.) I disagree that for a starter in May, Gallagher is better than Leiber and Marquis. I surely hope that for starter in Jul/Aug/Sep, and pitcher on the roster in the post-season, he's a better option than both those guys. And if Marquis' dad or Leiber's dad reads this, I don't have any apologies. It's my opinion of what is best for the Cubs. . Its real simple - if you want to s--- all over Gallagher or pick apart his performance, no one is stopping you. Just go do it in another thread and let his Dad - who has been kind enough to share inside info with us for a while now - enjoy this moment. In other words, show some class....if you have any, that is.
  3. I see - you are upset b/c the Cubs won and they failed to trade Soriano and Lee.
  4. The title of this thread reminds me of a headline from Nancy Grace' show: "BREAKING NEWS: Are the cops ready to arrest to Drew Peterson?"
  5. Or go into the scrap pile for Roberto Hernandez or Jose Mesa. Hell, while we are at it let's look for Thigpen, Rojas, Mark Davis, or Alejandro Pena. This thread is one of many in recent weeks that is an absolute pile of dung.
  6. you have a 25 OPS+ and you can't hit a pitcher with good stuff, so you pray that he throws four balls before he throws three strikes That's pretty bad. At least Neifi and Macias would swing and miss.
  7. Wow. How do you let that go by on 3-2. CUBS WIN!!!! Best homestand since 1978. Take note, haters.
  8. Wow - that's an incredibly miserable post and nasty sentiment. You deserve whatever you get.
  9. Here, here. And as long as he maintains a career OPS over 1.000 he should be able to do whatever the heck he wants.
  10. Chill? I dont see anybody thats having a raging fit, just some questioning of some pretty dumb moves. Right. They are the hottest team in baseball and we are picking apart every little mistake. Good news is that we might only get to do that a total of 70 or so times this season. My point is that you should go and find a manager who doesn't make this sort of mistake every now and again over 162 games. I don't think its been a consistent issue.
  11. I didn't like Kosuke bunting either, but guys, its one freakin loss. Chill.
  12. Congrats, Mr. G. I hope you, Sean and family had a wonderful night out in our beautiful city. He looked good and will only get better.
  13. Good for Glendon. It was unfortunate that he had to end his Cubs career in the manner that he did. I hope he does well (except against us).
  14. I certainly don't think you can keep this up, but good for you Ryan. Its easy to root for guys like you.
  15. And only an idiot would believe that, because Pie has not had anything resembling a chance and Edmonds is a lock to suck. While I don't like this move, I think that is an overstatement.
  16. Don't have the link, but I read in a hard copy of today's Sun-Times a suggestion that Marquis should be dropped and Maddux re-re-acquired. Thoughts?
  17. You'd be shocked at how many Cubs fans are convinced Pie can't play in the bigs. I am almost as shocked by those who say they are 100% sure that he can play in the bigs. Edmonds, if signed, will platoon. And if he stinks, he'll be looking for a job yet again. Its not that big of a deal. If Lou isn't going to play Felix, at least he'll get some AB's in Iowa.
  18. Meh personally I dont know why Lou deserves credit for this move. Melvin was the one who made the move look good by walking him. Personally I wouldve went with Cedeno, who has shown patience this year, that way if Melvin pitches to him, he has a better chance to put the ball in play. Or if he IBB's him, then you still have one of your best hitters still available, instead of being wasted to get IBB. Melvin should have pitched to Soriano and see if he would get himself out like he so often does. Lou makes a good call and he still gets critiqued. Cub fans are never happy. Just because a call works out doesn't make it a good call. If Fox struck out the first two batters he faced, it was still would have been a bad call. Fans tend to judge calls based on the results, but managers should be judged based on the situation, not how it turns out. I don't like the fact that Fox is on the roster (nevermind in the game), but you're saying that if Lou brought in Wuertz in that spot and he walked-in two runs it would have been ok b/c it was the better move based on the situation? And since when don't results matter? If the Cubs win 90-plus games and go to the WS, I don't give two-hoots how they do it.
  19. Always? I think many of us are critical of Lou, just not hypercritical.
  20. Good show by Sean today. He's going to get there.
