  1. Aren't you a Cubs fan? And who's "fighting tooth and nail" for Theriot? If anything I think most (at least on this bd) are in favor of relegating him to bench status in favor of Ronny.
  2. The gender-change operation didn't take yet, eh? ;)
  3. it would be nice to see him come back as a starter with his talent One step at a time. Let's just see if he will ever be able to pitch again. It bothers the heck out of me that a short three years ago we thought our top 4 starters would be Wood, Prior, Z and Guzman, who was a can't-miss type of guy.
  4. Do the mods even exist on this bd any longer?
  5. Wow, I was way off on his body-type. With that size he has long-time stud written all over him.
  6. Hansborugh can't go pro. He stays he becomes the ACCs all time scoring leader by a wide margin and UNC's. Besides the money, there is no reason for him to go pro. fine with me. save Paxson from himself. Actually Griffin staying in school truly saved Pax from himself. I hope Pax wakes up and trades up to get Rose. I know that is asking quite a bit, but that kid renminds me of AI. I think he's a better shooting Jason Kidd. I know that people think Love's game will not translate to the NBA, but what does he have to lose? He'll just get picked at by scouts even more if he stays in college. Agreed The things he need to work on (conditioning) he can do in the NBA or cannot control (jumping higher, growing taller). Plus he'd risk injury. Ben Howland was told he was an 8-15 pick in the draft by scouts, no point in sticking around if you're a lottery pick. Yup. He clearly has great court-sense. He is a great passer and a good shooter. He reminds me of Lambier, except he may not be as much of a jackass.
  7. Isn't Rose quite a bit skinnier than Kidd or Paul? I guess that is what made me jump to AI as a comparison, but I get that he sets up his teammates more than AI does or did. Perhaps Rose is more in the Paul or Williams mold. I love PG's like that and the Bulls would be wise to do what they have to do to trade up (if they don't some how get the first or second pick). Beasley is setting up as the modern Derrick Coleman, IMO. If he is fortunate he could become a pre-meltdown Vin Baker.
  8. Its not like he offered this up. How should he have responded?

  11. This is pretty interesting. Johnson is pretty clearly playing better as of now(475 OBP or whatever). But Pie has shown an ability to adjust at each level if he is given time to do so. I still say that if we filled the hole at SS with a permanent solution we could live w/ Felix and his growing pains at the plate.
  12. Unless something happened durinhg the offseason that caused them to change his delivery during ST. Otherwise, why tinker? We need more info, I think.
  13. I fully agree, but it won't be for any legitimate reason. He's being railroaded by the coaching staff; Lou is determined to destroy this kid's confidence. This is an incredible overreaction. It should be bronzed and placed in the Overreaction Hall of Fame. When one takes into account the recent history with PIe on the ML Roster I don't think the post is much of a stretch. However, since you feel the need to be the arbiter of what is and is not an overreaction, I'll defer to your greater wisdom. If you actually think Lou might in any way be purposely trying to destroy Pie's confidence, you probably should defer. Could not have said it better, so I won't try. EDIT: Except that I would have written, "purposefully". :)

  15. In ST they talked about altering his mechanics a bit. Looks like they did. His release point is very different. Wouldn't a lower release point make it more difficult to "get on top of the ball" and thus give you less movement?
  16. Has he brought in the Stewart kid from Oregon yet? I hope so. There's a chance he will be there in the 2nd Rnd. If they grab Williams in the first, Stewart would be great value there.
  17. There's this thing called the "K". Ah, but the second piece to the winning puzzle is scoring runs, and we have the ass end of teh lineup coming up for the next 2 innings True, but stranger things have happened.
  18. Nice play by both Woody and The Riot. Taguchi got a horrible jump there. Might as well leave Burrell in.
  19. I love Fuku's approach to hitting (even though he flew out). Its refreshing.
  20. Bunch of morons man. Lilly has definitely looked much worse than Hill. His velocity is down as well. Lilly is scary bad right now. He's lucky to get anyone out with how flat his stuff is.
  21. I agree. I wonder if its a concentration thing, b/c when he is on he looks like Lieber did several yrs ago.
  22. 1) Pie's hand is still somewhat bothering him 2) He's working with Perry on his swing and they don't want him facing much live pitching until the new habits have taken hold 3) There was a behavioral issue we don't know about 4) He was starting to lose confidence and Lou wants to get him refocused 5) He was pressing too hard and Lou wants to take the pressure off (this one will be jumped on, but there's more than one way to do it) 6) Lou simply feels that the best way to introduce a talented young player who needs adjusting isn't to simply throw him in the deep end of the pool ... Lou was drooling over Ryan Spilborghs in the offseason, pulls Felix 2 ABs into a game on the double switch, gave him no chance to be the starter last season, gave Sam Fuld every opportunity to win the job this spring, it's been clear for awhile that Lou isn't in the business of cutting him many breaks. Which is why Fuld is in AAA and Pie is on the ML roster. Are you Jim Garrison's kid or something?
