  1. There's a Cubs pitching joke in there somewhere. Lol, that same thought crossed my mind...
  2. Yes, I'm sure that's exactly why Wood is rehabbing in Arizona instead of Chicago.
  3. I'm not sure that his image is fake. And I don't really see any "spin". He's a high-profile athlete....... whatever he does will be srutinized by somebody (if not by the local media, then by the national media). If there's a story to tell (negative or otherwise), it's going to be told. You should know enough about our head-hunting national sportswriters to realize that. Personally, I don't think anybody has ever claimed that he puts his head down and sprints around the bases after a home run (maybe you're thinking of Rolen?). If he were overly concerned about his image, he probably wouldn't have done what he did. He clearly had time to consider what the media's reaction would be, and he did it anyway. Personally, I'm not that upset to see the "humanistic" side of him. If you have never met and talked with him in person, you have no clue. On that same notion it is not fair for Blueheart to call his image fake then. Just about everybody in the media who covers baseball and does talk to him says he is a very nice guy. Allthough I agree the bat flip was out of line i dont think it should change his public perception any. He felt like Perez showed him up and decided he would do it to him it might be wrong but it certinley dosent take away from all the charity work he has done. Plus there never has really been any reports come out about him being a jerk off the field either so, I dont think his image is fake as Blueheart has said. My apologies, I meant to bold both of them.

  5. Can Neifi be hated anymore really? It would have been the Umps fault then, but likely, Neifi would be blamed. Sorry, I should have been more clear, I didn't mean it as a bash, was just curious if it had gone the other way is all. I'm just glad someone "caught" the ball
  6. If I saw it right, the 1st base Ump didn't actually show the "Out" sign untill Perez "caught" it the second time, could be wrong though, anyone else notice that? If that is the case, how P.O.'ed would people have been if he had dropped his little "flip" ?
  7. ..and to think I was hoping we could get a swimming pool or a 20 ft cow in the middle of the outfield. But do you have a train that comes out for home runs? I don't think so.... :P Actually I think the outfield wall made out of toasted ravioli is a great idea! I picture a giant cuckoo clock that a big red cardinal pops out of everytime there's a homer... LOL
  8. Wow, that was wierd, the 3rd base ump ring him up?
  9. A lot of Cubs fans I know give no credit to the Cardinals becuase of the injury excuse. I get sick of it. I'd like to see what the two teams could do completely healthy for an entire season. I also feel bad for good guys like Lee and good fans who have to go through this kind of frustration. But the douche bags I feel no sympathy for. Well said.
  10. I think he thought he was Edmonds for a second.
  11. You know Albert is going to crush another one....you can feel it
  12. Maybe the clydesdales got trapped at the demo? I know - awful joke - I DO love horses, okay? Lol
  13. What's the cubs record? Last I checked, it was 9-5. Thank you, I cant believe all the B&M'ing going on. Yes DLee is our star....but he is far from the only one on this team. No one has a clue what is going to happen untill he gets back. Could we blow like most people here seem to think? Of course. Could other guys surpass their past numbers and actually play well? Of course. No one knows for sure. In any case, get well soon DLee.
  14. But when you consider how much money they are bringing in, it's only fair to them that they have high salaries. Remember that baseball is a business. Nobody comes to the park to see the owners, they come to see the players. Very true, I didn't think of it that way, still waaay overpaid IMO.
  15. I disagree strongly. They aren't average workers. They are unique elite workers in an industry with strong demand from the consumers. Practically anybody in the country could do what the average American worker does, there's a miniscule supply of labor for baseball players. BS, they get paid to play a Sport.....and a ton of money at that. I agree with Derwood on this.
  16. Awesome stuff!! Thanks for the links folks.
