  1. He's pretty much a guaranteed out when he steps to the plate, pathetic
  2. oh man that makes this deal even worse for the cubs hahaha, way to go hendry! ....as in the Rangers are giving the Cubs $3.5 million; picking up that part of Nevin's contract. ltb wasted his 2,000th post on that.
  3. I hope he just gets shelled start after start.
  4. Stiff back. Thanks bcb, just saw it in the Trib.
  5. The pitching will likely improve if Prior and Wood can get back to 100%, and anything Miller provides will be an added bonus. However, adding Lee back to this lineup will not suddenly catapult them over bunches of other teams to put us in a position to be significantly better than we currently are. We had a weak lineup with Lee in it, and we have painfully seen how putrid it is without him. The optimism is admirable, but reality is saying the season is over. This isn't a lineup that will put together a 35-10 stretch. Alot of people seem to think that Lee being out of the lineup is the reason the offense sucks. No one person makes or breaks an offense.
  6. Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but has anyone heard what the reason they yanked him out last night? I don't recall them saying anything during the game, except I thought I heard he was at like 64 pitches. Never mind, I just strolled through the game threads. Possible stomach ache?? Had an hour delay to do your stuff Mad-Dog
  7. Honest question, do any of you think they would actually fire any of them if they lose? I think there will be extensions no matter win or lose. The Cubs are currently on pace for a record of 62-100. There is no way you give an extention to a manager after a year like that. I think most people on this board would agree that Dusty isn't going to be fired at any point this year. Most Dusty haters just don't want an extention. Obviously, as long as no extention is offered to Dusty, there is still a chance he won't coach the team next year. The rumor is that Hendry is just looking for the right time (i.e. a winning streak) to give Dusty an extention. If the Cubs don't go on a winning streak then it will be hard for Hendry to offer the extention. Never say never with the Cubs  I understand what you are saying though, appreciate the info soccer10k.

  9. Your ideas were similar in that we need power from left, so we should trade Murton. Yours seemed to be more of a "he'll probably be a good hitter for someone else" while Kiley's was more "he's not the power hitter we need - get rid of him" - at least that's the vibe I got. I understand that we need to upgrade the OF. And that's one problem with extending JH. If we had a new GM, they may realize that JJ isn't a great hitter in RF, but he's hit well the last few week. He's a guy we might be able to trade away while he's still hitting well and then go find that power bat to take his place. Murton seems to be the one young guy that has any plate discipline at all. I just hate to give that away (esp since his trade value is almost 0 right now, what with the .264 BA and .368 SLG). I'd like to give him more than 100 ML games over two seasons to prove that he has no power. And a decent Hitting/Coaching staff.
  10. I agree with this sentiment however, this part jumped out at me. Griffey wrote: I have to go places, normal places like the grocery store and hear it (repeated). He absolutely has to go to the grocery store? C'mon Jr, I don't buy that. Maybe Walgreens late at night if one of the kids gets sick but not the grocery store. You think he has a store in his home? What's not to believe about him going to a grocery store?
  11. Welcome to the Board guys.
  12. Add that to the ever growing line of "first times" that the Cubs supply the opposition.
  13. Any thoughts on Dusty re-signing? I've always been of the opinion that Hendry was looking for the right time to extend Dusty. As of now, I don't know when that time would come. See, this is embarrassing. Rather than take the extra few weeks that the Cubs have been playing like crap as a hint to reevaluate the team and the possibility of signing Baker, Hendry just puts it off until the Cubs string together a few good games. Then, he can give Baker his extension and blame the losses on injuries. This is why I say they won't get it until people stop going to games. The problems are the same every year, and instead of changing the two most important positions within the organization - GM and manager - they give out extensions. If I did my job as poorly as Hendry and Baker have done their jobs, I'd be scanning the classified section right now. There's no punishment for failure within this organization, and no accountability. The whole thing is one sad joke. Um, you're a meteorologist. Isn't coming close the main goal in your profession? :P
  14. Is that what Len was talking about when he said "He swings his bat anywhere, anytime.....day and night.." ? I only caught part of it.
  15. ump squeezing? He's been kinda both ways IMO, he also called a changeup for a called 3rd strike last inning that was way low.
  16. Those last 2 curve balls looked pretty darn close.
  17. Bah, the mistakes are never ending it seems.
  18. That's cool. Do you know where it's going to be? I was born in Freeport so I'm kind of familiar with the area. Gonna be on the corner of Empire and McKinley streets, straight south of Burk Field( the original Little League field) Hmm, I'm not that familiar with Freeport anymore. Thanks though! NP, I would forget Freeport as well if I were to leave it, not much here
