  1. Going into the season, the BP looks to be the strength of this team.
  2. crap I thought the same exact thing. Neifi's a Cub & I'm a Cub fan. Sorry to all the pessimists & haters if I root for him! WTG NEIFI!!!
  3. so true. good to see him putting it together. keep it up. IIRC, He's scheduled to face the Reds in game #2 to begin the season.
  4. He faced a lefty today, that is why he went 0-3 with 3K's.
  5. Don't worry about the length, it's an NFL contract. # of years doesn't mean anything. Great signing for DA Bears! Now let's get Charles Woodson (isn't he a FA?) and Leonard Pope. No TY to Woodson.
  6. Don't be suprised if Griese makes the Bears decision on who to start @ QB a difficult one. Griese is more experienced. Time for Grossman to step it up. I do like the signing depending on how much $ is guaranteed.
  7. Infuriating. :?: Sacrifice bunting with no one out, and with your two hitter, who is left handed, and in a spring training game, and early on in said spring training game. Stupid to the nth degree. IIRC, it was Hairston who sacrificed Pierre to 3rd.
  8. Brewers make a late change, subbing Nelson Cruz in LF for El Caballo. Can you please refrain from the Hawk Harelson refrences?
  9. nice recap indeed. It will be interesting to see how Ryu & Marshall fair today.
  10. I heard this on XM home plate last night: If Soriano does indeed refuse to play 2nd base & passes on 10 mil. & the Nats put him on the unable to play list, he DOES NOT become a FA after this season & will still owe the Nats 1 season of service. Sit out the whole season & make nothing & put off FA for another year? or play LF for the Nats & make 10 mil & file for FA after the 06' season? Sounds like a very easy decision for me! GET OFF YOUR EGO TRIP ALFONSO!
  11. Like Macias winning a job over Hansen in 05'?
  12. Wood- 4/16 @ Pitt Prior- 5/4 @ Ari Miller 5/14 v.s. SD
  13. His W-L record isn't really the issue. At all. or any pitcher for that matter. BTW dont dismiss record completely it does factor in, it is the ultimate measure of success. I know it isnt something the pitcher has complete control over, but in the end it doesnt matter if you had 200 plus strikeouts and a great ERA, if you didnt win games you werent a success. Also when you look at the numbers it is a strong indicator of success in wins, if you have the above stats then you most likely will have a good record, but it doesnt guarentee it. A W is all that matters at the end of the day. I may very well be wrong, but thats just how I feel :D Thanks for defending yourself. I've never seen a bad pitcher win games consistantly. It's only one stat, but one that gets dismissed to often by stat boys. Go look @ Shawn Estes a few years back when he was with the Rockies. His W-L record was somewhere around 15-8, yet his ERA was close to 6.
  14. Colorado was rumored to interested early in the off-season.
  15. The problem is the media makes this out to be the best determining factor of a pitcher. They are the ones at fault.
  16. W-L is a team stat. Quality starts should be recorded as a pitchers stat before W-L. In my opinion, W-L should be removed from stats when judging & comparing pitchers. This stat punishes a pitcher when he doesn't get run support. Clemens LY was a good example of this. I believe he had a better year than Carpenter & the true pitching stats prove this.
  17. His W-L record isn't really the issue. At all. or any pitcher for that matter.
  18. FYI, AJ Burnett leaves today's game with an apparent elbow injury: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060318&content_id=1354513&vkey=spt2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb 5 yr. 55 mil?! Makes me feel a little better about the Prior situation
  19. Why even put yourself through that living hell?
  20. For Sox fans, a game v.s. the Cubs in ST is more their WS than playing Houston in October. Finger on the mute button @ all times is recomended.
  21. Hawk Harelson is hands down the worst in the business.
  22. Once all 3 come back this rotation will be deep. Hopefully, in early May.
  23. The Cubs dominated the Cards head to head in 05' going 10-6. Will they repeat the domination? FYI, 6 games are in April
