  1. Truer words have never been spoken.
  2. And if they lost that world series, it might just be in the top 10 worst events in my life. That would be an ultimate high followed by the ultimate low.
  3. Haha, thanks Tim. It's the friday before a long weekend. My brain has completely checked out.
  4. It's like last year when everyone in the world knew Sammy shouldn't have been hitting in the meat of the order. But Dusty refuses to change on things like this. He'd rather wait it out and pray the ship rights itself.
  5. I remember Matt getting a hug from Dusty and the rest of the guys after he actually got 7 runs of support one game. I think there was a stretch of 7 games or so where he got absolutely nothing.
  6. There are so many big mook OFs with the instincts of a cow that sounds like talk radio bs to me. Here's what ESPN says about his D: "Speed is Podsednik's game-he's among the fastest guys in baseball. He's a reliable, and sometimes spectacular, center fielder, covering the considerable gap between Jenkins in left and the team's 2004 right-field combo of Brady Clark and Ben Grieve. Podsednik also throws well." Well, you might be right. I've personally never really gotten a chance to see him enough out there to judge. He's on the Sox. Just going by what I've heard and read.
  7. Look at it this way, that's 61 cents more than he had before. -- edited by tim Corrected the **interesting** and presumed accidental anagram of "this" :D
  8. Really? I was listening to the radio yesterday and they were talking about how he was pretty underwhelming on defense and how he gets really bad jumps on balls. I don’t watch the White Sox so I really can’t say but that’s what I heard. I haven't heard that, but he was a very good CFer with the Brewers and now he's in LF, so that must require an adjustment. One thing I've heard 3 times a day about Poddy on the radio (and I listen to maybe 5 minutes of Chicago sports talk radio a day, to give you an idea of the Pod lovefest around here) is that his mere presence on the basepaths shakes up the pitcher and distracts him. That must be true in a large part - the guy is one of the top basestealers in the league. Even if he does 'pad' his SB stats, he's above an 80% success rate for his career. He doesn't K much, he gets plenty of walks - he's a great leadoff hitter. He's exactly what we need. Why not pad your SB stats? If you can steal a bag almost anytime you want, there is no real reason not to. I don't like the double standard. If you're up by ten runs and you steal second, people get mad for trying to run up the score. But if you're up by ten and someone hits a HR, it's a different story.
  9. I completely agree with this. Now that the all star game counts, wouldn't it make more sense to have the better fielder out at 1B? Especially if they are both going to start anyway? DLee is a gold glover. I see no downside to him starting over Pujols. Not when they both get to hit anyway.
  10. I was listening to that too. And I've heard it a few times now. He has the worst outfield instincts in the AL was what some guys were saying. Frankly, I don't know how anyone can have worse instincts than Manny Ramirez, but he really gets lost out there sometimes. Luckily his speed can make up for bad jumps. I like Podsednik. A guy who can create runs is hard to find. He makes pitchers and catchers nervous when he's on first because they know it's just a matter of time before he's gone. He's a good leadoff guy, and the only leadoff guys I'd rather have right now are Ichiro and Johnny Damon. As for him being better than Burnitz, you're comparing apples and oranges. They are two different types of players. Podsednik's job is to get into scoring position. Burnitz's job is to drive in runs.
  11. Yes, but at the direction of Torre. Was that Torre's idea? I always thought that was the one classy thing ARod ever did.
  12. How could such a good beer come from such a bad place?
  13. That's okay though, they're man tears. It's like when Old Yeller gets shot. It's okay to cry. I'd probably do the same thing for a while. Then I'd hook up with my old buddy... http://www.starstore.com/acatalog/Jack_Daniels_Bottle_post-01.jpg I wouldn't make it to work the whole week because I'd be up on my roof with a rifle picking off looters. There will be riots. But maybe we should focus on getting to the playoffs first...
  14. You'll probably post a few times, flip out in a thread in "rivalries" and get banned. I sincerely hope not. I jumped in here to mix it up, in a friendly manner, with some of the best fans in MLB. I hope I'm allowed to set up my lawn chair, ice up a 12-pack, and share some dialogue. Only if you share... Welcome to the boards. It's always nice to meet a Cards fan that isn't hell bent on saying "Cubs Suck!", or "Bartman!" every five minutes.
  15. Wow, this is the first time PHP has let me back in in quite some time. I thought the board blew up or something.
  16. Yeah, those PHP errors drive me nuts. Is the ball just flying out of Wrigley today? Or did Hairston just rip one good? I'm at work watching the Gamecast, so I can't tell.

  18. Yeah, that shouldn't happen. I'd say try deleting your cookies and temporary internet files. Then try again.
  19. Maybe the guy who owns that email address voted around the same time you did. It only saves the settings from the last vote you submitted with that email address. He might have voted the Cards in, and thus changed your settings. Keep voting Cubs though. Use all his votes.
  20. In order for the Cubs to have any sort of shot at the division, they are going to have to take 9 or 10 out of 14 from the Cards. And even then, it'll be tough. It's possible, but we'll probably need some help. And we'll have to keep our guns healthy, and avoid those five and six game slides that have become common this season. But I won't count us out until we're mathmatically eliminated. And even then I believe there's a chance. To quote the superfans: "And while the Bears are mathmatically eliminated from the postseason, I'm still optimistic... Ditka will find a way." (Imagine it in a harsh Chicago accent that only exists inside of fireman and Mike North)
  21. I'm guessing he'll end up around .353 with 49 HR, 123 RBI, and 17 SB. He'll win the MVP, and another Gold Glove.
  22. Try to use a real email address, even if it's not yours. From what I understand, fake email addresses make the votes not count. Check in the Cheat thread. You can use a Cardinals website email address against them. I think it's Redbirdcentral or something like that. But any email address @redbirdcentral.com will work. Or do like Vance does, and use the email address of people who send you spam.
