  1. Isn't Eli getting booed by the fans in New York? By the way Derwood, you're coming up on quite a posting milestone there...
  2. He'll be just like Hideo Nomo. Once they figure out his rotation, he'll go from a top tier pitcher to a batting practice pitcher.
  3. Amazing article. I don't know about the rest of you, but while the results may always be criticized, I will never doubt Jimbo's desire to get the job done ever again. I still think it would be hard to start a completely new deal and move it all the way through to completion from the hospital, though. And rightfully so. Jim needs some rest. I think it's more of Jim's desire to keep his job. He's doing everything humanly possible to hang on to his GM job right now. Still, gotta admire his fight.
  4. PS3. Don't listen to the 360 fanboys. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. For the record, I'm a Playstation guy, but there is a 360 in my place, and it's pretty damn cool.
  5. You're really making a push for that 10,000 post plateau aren't you? :D I'm not sure which one Lilly is, I just know that I'm not real excited about either of those guys.... or either of those diseases.
  6. Ugh, this is like choosing between herpes and gonorrhea. But I guess if I had to pick, I'd want Lilly.
  7. His eyes are going to give me nightmares.
  8. In my opinion, college football has completely devalued the postseason, and has made everyting entirely too opinion based. At least in the NFL, the best teams prove they're the best on the field. I hate how some teams get into bowl games over others simply because they'd bring in more money. Regardless whether they're better or not, they get that spot. Take the human polls out of it completely. Coaches, AP, whatever.
  9. Not sure if this has been posted yet, my search feature doesn't seem to work. If it has, just lock this. Just saw this on Rotoworld:
  10. Tough call, but I don't think you can make the switch to Griese right now. What they need to do is keep Grossman in check. Don't even give him the option of making dumb plays. Call for simple routes, and safe dump off passes. Let him get his confidence back that way. Seems to me like he's out there trying to win the crowd back with every throw, and he's taking bad chances and making bad choices to do so. The defense will keep you in it, so stick with Grossman and hope he gets his September form back.
  11. What about Hank, the Starbucks guy? http://www.cs.utah.edu/~acumming/pix/blog/hank.jpg
  12. yep, it's on after the nfl games. not sure what time though.
  13. the Wii is equal/slightly better than the regular xbox in terms of graphical power. check nexgenwars.com. i can't check it right now, but i'm quite confident that the Wii is dominating the PS3 in sales. the Wii had just as many or more people line up for it. since the PS3 had all of the negative news with it (the shootings, muggings, etc), mainstream news didn't make much mention of it. also, nintendo is the only company that profited in the previous generation. sony and microsoft lost money with the xbox and ps2. they make their money off of the games, not the consoles. saying that the gamecube stuggled to compete is a bit erroneous. http://www.forbes.com/technology/2003/12/22/cx_dd_1222mondaymatchup.html PS2 had 62% of the market share. XBox had 21% of the market share. I'd say Gamecube struggled to compete. That article is from 2003, but if you search, I'm sure you'll see that even more recently, PS2 and XBox controlled the market. Gamecube profited from their system, but they didn't sell nearly as many systems or games as the other two. And I might be mistaken, but didn't the PS3 only release a few hundred thousand units? Could it be that the Wii is beating them in sales simply because they released more and there is more opportunity to get one?
  14. I have Dead Rising, and it is hours and hours of non stop entertainment.
  15. I'll still never figure out why they changed it from "Revolution." That had a much better ring to it. I'm a PS guy myself, but I do have a 360 in my apartment, and I must admit, it's pretty sweet. And from what I've heard, Nintendo knew they wouldn't be able to compete graphically with PS3 and 360, so they didn't bother improving much on the Gamecube. Just came up with the weird controller thing and a few new games. Just my opinion, but I see the Wii going down the same road as the Dreamcast and Sega Saturn. Gamecube struggled to compete, and with PS3 and 360 doing so well, I don't see how the Wii can make it.
  16. No chaos. It would only make the 2 best teams meet in the NC game There's a difference between the two best and two most deserving. Michigan doesn't fit the latter. Um, they played the 2nd or 3rd toughest schedule in the country, and their only loss came to the #1 ranked team in the country (by 3 points). How are they not most deserving?
  17. My main argument against ND is that they really haven't beat a quality team. Yeah, their only 2 losses came to really good teams, but they only really played 2 really good teams. (And they got beat up in both of those games) Michigan State was overrated (and it shows), Georgia Tech isn't exactly a blockbuster win, Penn State? Come on. Teams like Louisville and Rutgers that people consider weaker both beat the #3 ranked team in the country when they played them. Plus, Louisville played 9 bowl teams. More than Notre Dame, more than Ohio State (according to ESPN. I haven't checked myself). If Rutgers beats West Virginia, I see no reason that the Big East shouldn't have two BCS teams. If ND can sneak in and steal that final spot remains to be seen. It'd be tough to count LSU out of it. But Notre Dame does bring in the money, so it's going to be interesting how things will play out.
  18. Yeah, I caught it right before you posted. My bad.
  19. Wait, nevermind. I misread your post.
  20. I see the Rose Bowl picking an SEC team for TV purposes. Florida (if they lose) or LSU. SEC vs Big Ten works well for TV purposes when it comes to the bowls. The sugar will take Louisville. That leaves the Orange Bowl. If Georgia Tech wins would they jump at a ND-GT rematch or go in another direction? That's the problem for ND is that two of the bowls could present possible rematches with ND. Obviously if Wake Forest wins then this problem is averted. I may be missing something but where does the Big East winner fit in? Either Rutgers or Louisville will have an automatic bid that I didn't see listed. If I'm not mistaken, I think the BE winner will go to the Sugar Bowl (someone correct me if I'm wrong). That would mean: Nat Title: OSU v USC Rose Bowl: Michigan v Fiesta Bowl: Boise St. v Oklahoma/Nebraska Orange Bowl: Wake Forest/Georgia Tech v Sugar Bowl: Florida/Arkansas v Rutgers/Louisville leaving loser of BE and loser of SEC championship plus LSU and Notre Dame to fill two spots. Arkansas and Rutgers are out if they lose, which would solve the problem. If they don't both lose, ND could miss a BCS berth. The Big East doesn't have a BCS bowl tie in so they are treated like an at-large team that gets "selected" by a bowl. Um, since when? I thought the Big East champ got an automatic bid to a BCS game.
  21. Notre Dame will probably be a very large West Virginia fan next week.

People want to argue that they haven't beaten anyone, but I think I heard on ESPN that they play 9 bowl teams this year. More than OSU and Notre Dame. Plus, they did beat the #3 (at the time) team in the country. It'd be tough to leave LSU out of any discussion too. ND might be in trouble.
  23. I really wish they would've won this one. They could've used a big win after the offense decided not to show up for the first two games. Nothing against Northwestern and Bradley, they played tough. But those are games DePaul should've won.
  24. don't take the human element out of the game. i'm against it. the occasional bad call is part of the game.
  25. I don't even understand why anyone would want to trade Michael Barrett. We have one of the best catchers in the league offensively, and defensively he's made great improvements. That's one position we actually have a good player at. Trading him for a star at another position doesn't make sense to me. Yeah, you may get a power hitting outfielder, but you weaken the team in another area, which is a great hitting catcher. Just my opinion though.
