  1. And then there is a Cubs fans response. I'm not sure where Monroe is in the state. Vance, how far are you from Houston anyway?
  2. I just drafted him in my league tonight. I had to choose between him and Anthony Reyes. I went Hill, even though I think Reyes might have a slightly better year. But Hill's upside potential is through the roof. Round 19 - Pick 207 11 team league.
  3. For an 18 team league, you have a VERY good team. I like the Drew pick up at SS. I have him in two leagues, and I'm hoping he busts out this year. My buddy is a huge DBacks fan. He keeps telling me to draft Conor Jackson and Drew if they're available mid to late rounds. I have so far simply because they were there, not on his recommendation. I'm expecting big things from those two though.
  4. I'll admit, I'm a little worried about a 5 year deal too. But I'd rather have him for 5 years and get 3 good years out of him, than not have him at all. (Same way I feel about the Soriano contract) Just for the record, I'm not saying that Z will only have 3 good years. I'm just saying these contracts have a way of biting teams in the @$$.
  5. What good is getting "his fire back" gonna do when his curve doesn't break and his fastball is too slow? This is getting ridiculous.... Yep, it's completely ridiculous to think that his mental state has an impact on the way he pitches. His fastball was gaining velocity, and his curve was improving slightly. Which is exactly what happens in spring training. I was pointing out that he looked like a whipped puppy when he pitched out there. His mental state is obviously affecting the way he pitches.
  6. I wish he would've gotten mad and yelled. He needs to show some of that fire that he used to have. Mentally, the Mark Prior of today is not the same man as the guy that threw high and tight to Barry Bonds, and then stood his ground when Bonds had a problem with it. He seems more shellshocked now, and he needs to get his fire back. Just my opinion though
  7. 3 more from me, and one of my old college roommates lives in Houston, and absolutely hates anything that has to do with the Astros, so he's gonna help out with a couple Cubs votes as well.
  8. Did you guys happen to notice that Zambrano and Pierzynski aren't in these commercials together? When you see AJ's face, you see what is supposed to be Zambrano's back, but it's clearly someone else. And when you see Z's face, you don't see AJ's. They were shot at different times, with stand ins for the other guy. It's pretty funny to see when you notice it. They probably refused to be in the same room as one another.
  9. He also mentioned "clogging up the bases" in the first inning. I got a chuckle out of it.
  10. Yeah, I love Murton hitting second. With Lee and Ramirez hitting behind him, and Soriano in front of him, he will see good pitches all season.
  11. ESPN news is already listing him as "former MLB pitcher" on the bottom line.
  12. I only have one team left, and that's Georgetown. But with Florida, I picked with my heart. Joakim Noah annoys the crap out of me, so I had Oregon going from that region. I was right about Ohio State losing.... twice. They could be the only team to ever go 2-2 in the tourney and still make the Final Four. I had A&M in that bracket. I had Kansas in there as well, but UCLA played tough, and they deserve to be there. I'm pulling for Georgetown. Mainly because they are a Big East team, but also because I hate Ohio State and Florida. And to be honest, UCLA has enough championships.
  13. Vance, if I'm ever in some sort of election, or anything that has a voting process, I want you in my corner. You've got a few votes coming from me and my numerous email accounts.
  14. I'll be at the Saturday game in section 110 I believe. We have 35 tickets, so we're taking over the entire section again. We do it once a year up there, normally arriving on a huge bus. No bus this year, but it'll still be a great time. Anyone else a fan of Milwaukee's stadium? It's really a good place to catch a game.
  15. Unfortunately, I don't think Memphis matches up as well with Ohio State as A&M would've. So now I think OSU will make it to the Final Four, which is ridiculous. They could be the only team in tournament history to go 2-2 in the tourney, and still make the final four. Is anyone else still amazed that every #1 seed still remains. When was the last time that all four #1's made the final four? I don't think it'll happen this year, but there's still a good shot.
  16. I don't know. I personally don't think he'll be successful, but he does handle the ball extremely well for a big man (I've seen him cross a few guys over this year believe it or not), and if he ever develops that 15 foot jumper, he has a shot at being a solid role player.
  17. I lost A&M out of my final four, and I also lost Texas, Maryland, and Pitt out of my elite 8. My brackets are finished.
  18. My brackets have pretty much fallen apart. And that was a classy move by Tim Floyd. I thought he was a jerk with the Bulls, then again today on PTI when they were talking to him about OJ Mayo recruiting himself to USC. And he just cemented it with that move to completely take his team out of the game.
  19. Can any lower seed hold a lead anymore? Multiple double digit leads squandered so far in this tournament. Now USC looks drained, and UNC is going to go right after them.
  20. Yeah, I thought it was kind of strange that out of all the bad calls this weekend, they went out of the way to call out the travel at the end there.
  21. Anyone know if McRoberts is hiring an agent? That could change things down the line.
  22. I don't see how we did that. We tried to play the exact same style as we did in the first half, but between our shots not falling and the extra fouls being called (whether correct or not) slowed the tempo of the game down. There wasn't a fundamental change of style on our part, it was simply poor performance from the young players and especially Lofton. Okay, maybe not so much Tennessee as Xavier. But the defense in the second half was a lot different. But like you said earlier, taht comes with the team's style of play. Giving up only 32 points in the first half was pretty good, but it just looked like that full and 3/4 court pressure defense took a lot out of the players, and Ohio State was able to climb back in that way.
  23. In my opinion, Ohio State has now been exposed twice in this tournament as the most mediocre #1 seed I can remember. They were virtually eliminated in both games until the other teams decided that instead of "playing to win", they were just going to play "not to lose". I came into this game thinking Tennessee was the better team, and to be honest, I still feel that way. They outplayed Ohio State. Don't get me wrong, Ohio State still played their way back into it, and they are the team that's moving on. But they have not shown me anything all year that makes me believe they are very good. Now, having said that, I'm sure they'll win the national title and I'll have to eat crow.
  24. Not sure if it's been posted yet, if it has, ignore this, but Marquette's Jerel McNeal is injured, and will miss the NCAA tournament. This may cause me to make a change in my bracket.
